Question[ [MOD]Rory or GM's ]

Inside this thread, they were saying stuff among editing skin modifications and .rez files.

How could this honestly be a bannable offense? Adding your own design to your own fire-arm. I've seen weapon modifications on youtube aswell as, skin modifications. Anyways-... Honestly, how could it be a bannable offense, IT GIVES YOU NO HIGH ADVANTAGE.

Anyways-... I want to hear from staff.

  • It's because in order to modify .rez files and play, you have to bypass X-Trap if I'm not mistaken.

    ^ Exactly.

This, and what would be the point in making reskins, if someone can simply edit his files to see a gun that u might need zp for? ;) Example: Editing files to make awm camo look like awm lm. (they're the same stat-wise.)
  • ^- So what? They're just being creative they just want something and can't access it, so they make them selfs or just copy the rez file. On one place someone named SpongeBob he made a rez editor ( Not Saying Site Due To Rules. ) i've seen some stuff on there, I dont use the Rez Editor but I think the idea's that people have done on there is dramatically amazing. They want to play Crossfire the way they want to. Personally, NO LIE if I could mod rez'z (* I dont know how to *) I would make my favorite gun off of another game named, Alcad M4. Which is the regular M4 just SIlver. ( Not a big fan of The Silenced Silver Custom M4. ) I think they should un silence the M4 Silver :o
  • The fact is the skins are set by .rez files, probably to make it easier for the game's engine to include it in the game. Modifying .rez files is against the rules because they hold key information besides these skins. The issue doesn't lie in the devs trying to block anyone's freedom in game.
  • If they could do it, all reskins in the game would be useless, they would just reskin their AWM into an AWM-Tiger or AWM Hellfire .....

Thats right. .REZ files are in a way easy to encode/decode, many games use it. And have infos about everything in the game.... If you were to change just a skin, later you will want to change a gun, from m16a1, into Dual Golden M12S Scope Knife.

Plus, like others before me told so, if you were to modify .rez files, you have to bypass the anticheat system, and a bypass, is actualy a hacking, so you will get banned.

Plus 2: Z8, or others providers, WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE GUN SKINS, OR CHARACTERS SKINS. Why? becouse they are doing the best to release totaly NEW GUNS that look cool, and isnt good for busines if no one actualy buy them, becouse like you, everyone will change his m16a1 into Dual Golden M12S Scope Knife, and th game would be screwed.

Edit: Most of people who responded to this thread are very trusted CF NA Comunity members, and a MOD or GM surely just will agree with us.
  • Even though most people here are talking about simply gun skins there are other implications that come from editing .rez files. As they house the game's content they also hold the data for damage values, weapon speeds, firing rates etc etc. If they were to simply allow the game to have it's files ripped to pieces then you would end up with all sorts of broken and hack like weapons.
Sure, other games have ways of modding gun skins and models etc without actually changing the values or stats of the guns but CrossFire, other than the UI etc, is not a particularly "safe to modify" game. Allowing people to abuse one loop hole would lead to other things being broken and affected, reducing the overall enjoyment for other players.

X-trap bypasses are long-gone and wont be coming back anytime soon, They just rename the file to a certain name in the rez folder (well did) and it sort of like autoinjects into CF. You are not allowed to rez mod because the programs used to crate the gun skins are 3rd party programs which is against the tos you agreed to

Wow you're dumb. As almost everyone here said, it's a bannable offense.
  • The only reason that I would ever think of editing rez files would be to make the desert eagle gold look better. Seriously, that thing is disgusting.

    True, banana skin all over.

Rory, is there anyway possible to allow modified crosshairs? I know the files are in the .REZ but can't there be a way for them to be modify-able without the community getting their grimy hands on the .REZ files?

OT: The weapons n such as the way they look and sound are in the .REZ files which then, if we were able to get into those files and modify them, there'd be no end as to the amount of ha,ckers we would have..

Not only that but then there'd be no point for skins since all someone would have to do is copy the skin from one gun and paste it to the other.
  • Why do you guys like to mod your game? I still don't understand...
