Thought Out Suggestions.

Long time player here.... quit for a while due to Security measures not working with Windows 7/etc finally back... and what has changed? Sadly.. not much at all.

SO I am listing some suggestions, hopefully some will make the final cut - some need to be looked at NOW, and some are just thoughtful.

1) Ping control. Cannot stress how much we need this. I see pings "normal" in 150 range, which is fine, but then during the game, suddely, skyrocket to 3000+ - this is not acceptable, laggy players need to find another server close to them (or in the most common case, stop lag switching intentionally creating these spikes)

2) Cheat control. You need auto-banning methods. Not just XTrap/Whatever to "detect, prevent, and stop cheats" - cheaters update there stuff Daily, so unless your Preventative means are being updated to counter the counters, daily, then your doing nothing. Commonly lately is a 1 hit kill in Hero mode from a Human to a Mutant - with a knife. This is easily detected and prevented, no melee weapon, in fact probably no weapon at all - does 2000+ damage in 1 hit. Now speed.. is another story.

3) Kick control - way too many players getting kicked just for having fun and/or being good. Kinda hurts not being able to get any GP at all just becuase you had a good round and went high on your k/d. Repeated reports, false hack reports for kick, etc should be limited and prevented/punished for doing so. "He's hakin F11" for someone whose blocking isn't the appropriate vote kick.

now on the other side of things - I think hackers should be taken a lot more seriously. IP Ban, MAC Address Ban, Email ban, and account name ban needs to all occur at once. This stops a hacker in his tracks.

To help prevent issues - all special charecters need removed from names. this is all the funny stuff we see like __-/@! and such. These are not needed - and only mask the IDs of others more so normal players cannot type them easily or report them easily. Sorry noobs that use them for real - but you really can't be taken seriously when your name is (-Awesomeness-@ or something.

- after the 'all bars bans" happen from reports (MAC, IP, Email, Account) - the player(s) who reported them should get a bit of a reward. Why? because their K/D probably took a hit, hard, just to get that round finished to get a replay saved to send in. So - why not give them a little ZP to say "sorry you had to deal with that, thank you for the report" ?

This would help weed out people quickly, and those trying to abuse it (creating multi account to cheat on, then report for ZP) could easily be detected through IP/MAC addresses. So this won't be a concern.

Quitting a game needs to have less of a impact on your GP - instead, take away EXP. Even level backwards. - this stop players from quitting often by removing the ability to use those big guns they saved up for. De-leveling is a much better option instead of taking away thousands of GP - which is highly needed for any gun (30K+) and repairs. Sure by de-leveling them they get more shots at killing for gold - but their K/D isn't reset at all - so they have to use the scrub weapons to do it all over again.

map exploitation needs penalized. Cannot tell you how many games I go in where someone boosts through a ceiling or onto boxes not meant to be climbed on just to gain an advantage. The game has plenty of challenge and room for skill improvement- without using these 'cheap' means to victory -sure you may die more - but that's part of the game!

GM/Admin need to be more active. In games. They need to spectate games and look for signs of cheating and deal with it quickly instead of waiting for Xtrap to catch it - they don't have to get everything, just those "oh wow.. there's no way that guy can 1 hit knife that mutant who had 7000 HP" Get the honest players some help so they don't end up penalized by quitting, or witha horrible K/D or hating the game because 'nothing gets done"

Finally bans themselves need to be taken much more seriously - banned for using a program to aid you - in any fashion - should be Un-Appealable. Those banned for Language/etc should be the only ones given a "second chance".

I know I am going to get a lot of flame for these - most of you won't agree because your too set in your own ways to even think about it, but it's worth a shot. Years have gone by and this game SHOULD be amazing - but instead I see the same flaws from when I started.

Don't like that Iam takin away your ability to exploit a map? Maybe get some skill instead of relying on the exploit in the first place, eh?

  • This should be in the suggestions thread. But I think you have good suggestions.

    X-Trap does auto ban

XTrap isn't catching these hacks - because as stated, hackers will update their programs daily - Xtrap has taken weeks to do any update - this is the major problem with Xtrap and similar problems - delay in the updates.

Hacks are basically Live. Updated every time they begin to be stopped. Xtrap and other Auto-Detection Constantly running while the game runs - program , don't update on the Live system. They update weekly, sometimes daily - but not fast enough from players destroying honest players K/D and Fun in the game.
(although the real issue with hacks isn't the update normaly - its hackers means of bypassing the detection)

This is why we need more Live Admins watching rooms. Figure if LIve Admins peak into a game every now and then as a spectator - they can see themselves what's going on in a match, and when they spot those instant kills/wallhacks/what not - the player can be removed quickly to ease honest players from the suffering or penalties of quitting the match. Then when Xtrap finally DOES update to catch that particular cheat - they keep an eye out for other bypasses.

You need to send a GM a PM and ask them to move this thread.
  • I cannot have stressed your third point enough. A bunch of kiddies always cry out, " wow he got a multi kill kick him hakker aimbot herp derp f11 plz f11". It's so annoying, but I don't think there can be a method to stop that.

That's a good idea, but think how long that would take..to MANUALLY catch every hacker in the game. It would be too tedious and it would not work in the long run, because as you said, hacks are constantly updated. There's no point in doing that, other than mods reporting back to admins what kind of hacks are being used so they can send the report to XTrap to try and patch it.
  • 1. That can't really be fixed. While this is labeled as the NA/UK version, there are still tons of countries that don't have their own versions, and have to play on Z8's version as this is where they get the lowest ping. And secondly, what the hell is ping switching? I've honesty never heard of anyone intentionally for the sake of tanking.

    2. As stated already, xTrap does auto-ban, no need to add to that more.

    3. It would take way too much work to implement. The whole replay system would have to be changed in order to see who kicked who, and then punish accordingly. It would simply mean more work for the staff whom currently is understaffed. Hackers would be banned even slower as they have more work to do.

    4. Can't remember if GMs have ever responded to the MAC ban, but both IPs and emails can be made easily. Registration currently doesn't require a confirmation email, so signing up with a temporary email (the ones you go to a website that generates a random email for an hour or so) makes account creation that much easier. IP bans are just as simple. Turn off your Internet modem, turn it back on, new IP.

    5. You're not exactly a noob if you like non alphanumerical characters. It simply means more diversity in IGNs, and I don't think that's going to be changed.

    6. DCs still count as desertions, so people would complain about that. And the "punishment" of deserting is already the GP and XP loss. No need to further increase punishments.

    7. No. Simple as that. It's very legit, and it means more strategy. WOGL allows it, and there all the game breaking ones already have a damage/client error zone.

    8. They do play, and are fairly active. They get feedback from MODs as they have direct communication with the GMs. They can't DC and ban players in-game anyways I believe.

    9. That's already implemented. VMware, etc. are not bannable, but simply are not able to be used while you're in-game. Performance boosters such as GameBooster shouldn't be banned as it makes the game for people smoother and more enjoyable.
