z8 games cares too much about now and whats in it for them straight away.

Not really, they just released a new clan war system which obviously took some time to get working.

I guess this would be fun for the pub clans and stuff, but no real contribution to the competitive side NOR to the fact that now with EU gone we get more people quitting than are joining the game.

thats all well and good, but its not any thing that big or that will affect this game massivley(which is waht the game needs), fine it may have taken a lil but of effort. but if they hadnt done it, questions would have been asked to what were they doing.

They already stated that they're going to be introducing ladders and more tournaments and stuff, patience is a virtue.

So let me get this straight, you're mad that they were working on something because if they didn't work on it you would have been able to get mad at them for not working on anything?

at this rate there will be no "uk" teams to play it, but i hope your right. if so some eu teams will get involved. but still SG are doing alot for cf eu.... etc
  • Ladders and tournaments with the only A/C being X-Trap and Growler, and most likely being based of the very flawed Clan Match stuff.

not mad at all, if they didnt do the new clan system i wouldnt care less. but other people might ask questions about them. im saying they should do something to get more uk players in, since nobody is replacing the eu players that leave this game because of the ip restrictions z8 games put in place.

Personally I couldn't really care less if the UK players left, because I only play in the Toronto servers :)
  • Totally agree. Got into AVA only when it got on Steam. For Steam to pick up and support a F2P game like AVA made me rethink about giving the game a go. Steam = <3
  • bumping this to get it above the bs of this community
  • Yes I want Steam to support Cross Fire.. Maybe then, I can play a game with low pingers that aren't chineese...
  • Totally agree with you.

I've been wanting this to happen for a very long time and I know a lot of people who don't use the forums who want it to.

exactley many more people want this to happen that arent on the forums. i dont think people realise this much.
  • Personally I'd love to see this happen, and Steam would probably be more than willing to add CF, looking at how well they work with other software companies and portals, from big names like Windows Live down to game-specific like RIFT. Plus, Steam loves free games, since it draws in people to their client base. CF would benefit from easier invitations to game rooms, Steam messaging, automatic updating, not to mention a massive influx of (English speaking) players. Unfortunately, for something like this to happen, every part of of Cross Fire's bureaucracy would have to work things out with Steam... Smilegate's coding, NeoWiz's approval for distribution (Although they made it work with AVA, so this shouldn't be hard), Z8/Steam account linking or merging, plus access to game features through Xtrap. And so, the chance of CF becoming a game on Steam in the near future seems unlikely. :(

    This +1.............................

Regarding what Saidin said in that thing, i doubt they ban thousands of players on the daily =/ And what would be nice is a 2nd Lt server rank limit.

Just going to put a note into here. There was a SFC [The rank before master sergeant] rank required server put up in UK and NA servers, but everybody failed the test. At first, it was only UK, but there wasn't even over 100 people in that server at one time ever. The community said that there were none in NA, so one was put in NA. Once again, barely anybody there.

That's why you're most likely not getting any rank limited servers soon, you disastrously failed the test, which would most likely have added to more servers with rank requirements.

Now, for the Steam topic. As stated before, it's not a one day debate with Steam to get Cross Fire put up. The gaming world works much differently, even the simple fact of getting to Steam about the situation could take weeks, even months. Not to mention, Steam may require payments, etc. to endorse the game, which requires Z8Games/G4Box internal debates on if or if not it should be paid.

Instead of thinking of what could happen, executives are looking more at what has happened and what is happening. Sure, it could bring in more people, but what guarantee is there? For all we know, it could be just a massive expense.

Sure I'm all for a larger English speaking base, and I'm also all for new players, but I'm sure the people up above me [possibly even above Saidin] don't care about the number of people, but the number on the Income Statement at the end of the year.

Wouldn't more people playing this game = a higher possibility of income?

Steam is home to many "premium" games and if it can house Cross Fire, a good portion of new players arriving from Steam may be people who buy copies of games. Then seeing that they can pay as low as $8 a month or so if they wanted premium items, they would most likely pay for this game and maybe not just at $8 a month with all the crates and premium items available. Not only that it would be cheaper but also there's no contract or anything that forces them to pay which means they may end up paying more for this game since it's on their terms and not the company's.

I understand that it may take a while if ever to get this game to be supported. However, this game has more than 5 game modes including an original game mode "ghost mode". It has bare-able graphics and low requirements so this game can be played on any computer unlike the higher-end games.

There are some free games on Steam that are terrible compared to Cross Fire and they actually require more power than Cross Fire! If those cruddy, 3rd person shooter games can make it onto Steam, Cross Fire should have no problem in being able to be housed by Steam with the exception of the pricing since I don't know the financials of Steam.

yeah i played ava when it went to steam as well, i played for like 5 months and saw a total of 0 hackers.

sue the hacking websites = scare hacking sites, get MONEY(no way can z8 lose)
pay for steam = better anti cheat, more players
    more players = MORE MONEY

you say executives are looking at what has happened and what is happening, then they should obviously tell that the player base is shrinking, which means revenue is shrinking. It doesnt and shouldnt take a genius to figure it out.

isnt it better to think about whats going to happen tomorrow rather than whats going on today?

ijji put ava on steam and their players expanded 2x, as well they seem to be doing pretty damn well with revenue right now.

Now it may just be me but i like crossfire way way more than any other F2P fps games out there but coming back to play crossfire after 2 years and seeing that more than half of the north american players are gone, and even more of the european players are gone is just sad.

all i see in why we cant is money money money money and time, but without getting new players where is the money going to come from?

putting it on steam makes you lose a little bit of money now, but in the long run itll only help.

steam would by far help out crossfire more than just putting crossfire on any other free to play gaming sites. i mean honestly who even looks at those?
  • For my opinion, I would stay like this BUT we should do more publicity for english speaking players.. Also, everyone would have a better Anti-hack system.. Cross Fire on Steam will change nothing. I prefer stay on this way.
  • I'll close this thread, let's keep the discussion in one, shall we?

I didn't mean for people to necropost the thread when I refered to it, I merely wanted people to read the thread's content.
