To be honest, i'd get neither because with $1000 I can build a better computer than both of those put together.

Don't waste your money on prebuilt computers, building your own computer allows you to customize it way more and you'd save a lot of money.

Just build your own. It can be cheaper and it is more customizable.

Alienwares can and will cook your video card after a while. Go with the Cyberpower, but make sure you shop around beforehand to find some cheaper builds.

2) I work in IT for a living (Network admin go!)

3) I built my own desktop (i5 Neth, 6950, ssd ect ect)

So yeah, derp.

Get the CyberPower if your choice is only between the two. 3rd gen i5, better GPU. RAM/Board/PSU will be a toss up between the two.

But if you buy Cyberpower you can probably overclock it with that i5 3570K. So go with that if u want.
