The Downfall of Semper-Fi

I dont know if anyone has ever been in the clan Semper-Fi but it was a pretty boss clan. I like to watch how some of my favorite clans are doing so i check on them once in a while. I was in horror when i saw that Semper-Fi was moving up ranks. It went from rank 40 something to rank 123. I saw some factors that may have caused this.
1. They barely clan warred.
2.Started to become less strict with inactive people.
3.BR clan out farmed them.

I was wondering if anyone noticed this. I was also wondering how to stop this from happening to my clan. My clan is NcN and we havent moved in ranking for 2 weeks. I am wondering that soon time we catch up to us and we start to move up ranks again. The reason i am worried is that i have been in past clan where everyone went inactive and the clan leader left. I just dont want this to happen again.

  • They've kicked me more than enough times for me to care.

I put them on the same sort of level as CFFC and FITH

    Same here .
  • I remember seeing Semper-Fi players playing all the time, and they were generally really nice, and very good players. I only see one or two every few months, so obviously I've noticed the downfall aswell.

As for a solution to the downfall problem; don't give up. Make your members feel they are important, make your LT's respect you, and feel that their position is godly. You have to make your clan feel at home. When I joined a clan recently called Isolation, I applied thinking it was a professional pub clan (and a little bit of scrim). As soon as I logged in after they accepted me, they wanted me to get on Ventrilo right away. That was a huge mistake, and that's what made me dissapointed with that clan. You shouldn't force your members onto Ventrilo unless they want to participate in clan wars, otherwise it should be optional.

Good luck with your clan, and hopefully Semper-Fi can get back up there.
  • Who cares? Clan ranking means nothing, imo. Clan ranking depends on how many clan points they get and points for clan wars.

I think this thread was more based on the fact that after a little while, booming clans begin to die off, and everyone disbands it. Read the whole thread next time.

You mean asking you to get on Vent is a mistake?
    How do you mean?
Is it not nice to talk to people on voice chat?

Asking a fresh player to go on Ventrilo right away isn't the greatest idea. I know for one I'd rather talk through text until I'm comfortable with everyone. Ventrilo shouldn't be a requirement unless you're doing clan wars. In my case, I was forced to go on Ventrilo, then told, "If you don't go on, we can easily replace you." For this, they lost a good member.

    Yeah but...

I completely agree with your point. It would make me uncomfortable to. Plus vent should only be required for clan war. Ventrilo isnt fun if you dont know who the type of people you are talking to are

How long does it take for you to feel comfortable enough to talk on voice chat?
  • The downfall to big clans is due to inactiveness. Once there is less people to play, everything goes down with it. Less CWs and clan points and people leave due to others not being to play.

This is what happened in my old clan. My friend quit CF while me and the leader weren't able to play so people wanted more people to play with, so they joined a new clan.

Isolation is probably the most strictest and best scrim clan out there.

    Of course I'm right. :P
  • I was in semper-fi when it was ranked 30ish back like a year ago. Didn't really enjoy my stay but they were cool.
  • I got kicked from Semper-Fi ages ago because I joked too hard for them...
I was one of the few people under 18 yrs old that was in the clan, and apparently my jokes weren't accepted... Although my jokes were the same as most peoples jokes between friends... jokes like "rak lixo kikik" and ofc they knew I was joking, not only because it was obvious at the time, but because I let them know -.-

Fairly skilled players in the top of the clan... they were the only ones I played with at the time, and they went from rank 40 to 38 while I was in the clan, then they jumped to 41 within a week after I left. (Not necessarily saying that I cause them to get to 38, but twas very strange)
I later was in a metro gm with them and I drag shotted them as they bhopped and they called me a hacker -.- this was their lt's that did this... very sad imo :/

As far as the ventrilo discussion goes: I think that if you're going to clanwar, you have to be on ventrilo. No exceptions. I still prefer to speak to people on vent before arriving at a proper conclusion about someone, because I find people let loose more on voice chat and show their true personalities. Attitudes can sometimes be lost in the text.

random is pretty good at gm. Lol who
    Knows?
  • I liked this clan too, they are generally nice, don't block in HM, don't kick other people, and don't hack.

    Farmers probably replaced them.

they kicked me in powerplant like summer 2009, then their downfall happened

i wonder what the fun is if your clan is that stricted clan? i mean isnt a clan made for fun to play with friends or meet new people?

@choas dont got a bigger pic? but most people QQ now these days....
cananda eitle said i was a hacker because i had a K/D like 20/5 or something like that with a m700. anf i came in the little room with a window in B on the map of DS.
i came in there looking allready the way of the window and i shot someone of canada eitle and he said i walled him. so it dont matter what clan people got they still QQ about people with a skill. sign
  • Doubtful you will check again but I can explain exactly what happened with us, Semper-Fi. Shortly before the change in clan ranking structure there was a huge case of BR hackers. There wasn't a completely public game without a hacker. That killed our activity level which drove the huge drop in rank shortly there after.

As far as kicking people goes there are reasons. Those under 18, since I joined, were on a short leash for maturity. For quite a while kicking inactive members was a big deal. Now I would say we have 30-40 "active" members. This leads to low clan points and less people on at a time.

NcN my advice is keep moral up, find ways to make it fun for the members. Clan tournaments and such are a good idea and help people gain skill.
