Macbook Pro with Retina Display

Placing an order for the 2.6 GHz as soon as possible. It's beautiful.

Anybody else getting one?

  • I'd get it, but I really don't use a laptop professionally nor am I in school so theres no real need for a high end one.

Whats the deal with "retina" by the way? 220 ppi isn't cutting edge anywhere.
  • Meh, why not.

I guess if it was a lower price...
  • I'm not a mac fan, i'm making custom computer, glowing blue led lights. :D

I highly recommend getting a custom made PC for gaming; Macs are for schooling. I'm investing a small majority of my savings [now that I have some opened "cap space" due to scholarships] in some new technology that will be invested only in education.

That being said, a custom computer is still superior over the Macbook Pro in terms of gaming and price.

Don't forget the Macbook Pro Retina is soldered, and isn't meant to be updated; I'll need to buy another one in a couple of years, a fact that I'm ready to accept when buying a Macbook Pro.
  • Plan to sometime this summer. Looks amazing. Can't wait for iOS 6 though.
  • i rather buy a nice rifle with that price. 1500 max... honestly, maybe they're just "skimming" the market the first few months though.
  • Wait does it really mean "flash" memory? Drop computer, lose all data TROLOLOLOLOL

just to be nice, DON'T DO IT, mac has the bad habit to boost the price of their own component

Nice I guess. But IMO Macs are way overpriced, you could get a better pc for lower price. But that's just my opinion, so nobody troll me please! I won't reply back anyways, Haha.
  • lol.... Never had a mac and looking at that price prob never will waste that much money on one.
  • LAMOA ,i would rather get an alienware or a super custom computer for that price , much more functional waste of money
Besides its ultra expensive to repair a Mac in Egypt ,i could easily pay 2x the price in repairs

You're clearly misinterpreting me getting another Macbook Pro for University [I got my first back in early 2010, but technology has exponentially moved forward in the last 2 and a half years] with me getting another Macbook Pro for gaming.

I have a gaming laptop from 2008 that still runs the only game I still play [unfortunately, a smaller amount of time], Cross Fire, at 200 FPS constant.

For the waste of money comment, buying a laptop is a waste of money. Laptops [and all technology for that matter] is designed to wear out and break down. I'm buying a piece of technology that has been proven to last longer than regular PCs, so price isn't exactly a big factor.

Like you said tho technology move forward pretty fast these days so again the one your getting now will probably be outdated again in another couple years :/

not like it becomes worthless, you can still resell it and get whatever is new.
  • Good for you, once you realise how much money you wasted just for a the display ill laugh.
Till than I just feel bad for you.

Yayaya money is not a factor good for you keep on buying mac's good luck.
  • Why get a Mac? lol. The only possible advantage over PC I could see is OS X, but you can have that on a PC, too.
  • Regardless if I had the money or not. Apple wouldn't get it when it comes to a PC/Laptop.

You made me giggle for a sec :P

    It's only $2700.

For one, my experiences with Macs are much better than with PCs.

A mechanic hard drive is waywaywaywayway more sensitive than an SSD.

Oh really ? talk to me about it, I got ssd and harddrive + external hd.

Harddrive drop from 1m, ok no problem, ssd Ewww, external hd Muahaha can take 2G drop XD
  • Mechanical uses precise movement reading from a magnetic disk with an extremely sensitive pin.
Bump it while its active and its done.

SSDs are big memory cards, same stuff you got in an USB-stick.
Pretty much insensitive to everything unless you actually get inside and dislodge the memory from the circuit or drop it in water.

Not sure if they solved the lifetime issue with SSD yet though, kind of a downer.

Well still depends what kind of hdd you use ;)

and no they didn't solve the fact it dies after a certain ammount of use.

    But still mac is overpriced.

Why don't people buy plain white T-shirts? Instead, we have people paying $30 for a generally $5 shirt [600% increase in price?] from brand name places. The material used to stitch on a logo or a name is negligible, clearly not $25.

But then again, everybody is walking around in plain white T-shirts, no-name brand items, and DELL laptops with iOS on it.

People don't just buy items for the usage. It's the name that people buy it for. I'm happy with my experience with Macs, same as I'm comfortable with my Emporio Armani $400 glasses, my $150 Adidas basketball shoes, and my $150 Abercrombie jeans.

Buying Apple isn't simply paying for the items in it, it's paying for the name as well. Don't like the name? Don't buy it.
  • Macs are good for schooling?

They're good for nothing. They're overpriced and sell on the value that they're "futuristic". When, in fact, the technology has been around for simply a long time. You do not need a high end laptop for school. Most students get by on a cheap hand me down PC laptop that's been used from sibling to sibling, or etc.

If you're buying it for the brand, well. Okay. I don't even want to open this topic.

    Have fun with the macbooks.

I care more about quality vs competitors than name. If i spend a couple hundred bucks on adizeros.rather than a pair of 50 buck nikes its cus the quality is that much better lol

If you ever been in the industry you would have know that the name of "apple" "mac" is not worth it, also in the past years the quality of the product been decreasing as well.

Why not paying for a computer that has the same price, as a design as well, a brand on it, but the composent that you're paying for ?

    http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.243119900/categoryId.56404900

I'm sorry but if I buy a t-shirt it's because it's a good quality(time/value) and a good logo(performance). Mac is losing the first one and doesn't have the second one. I'm telling you this because I've sold apple product, I've used apple product and I'm using pc now because for around 70% of the price my render take around 300-500% less time.

I'm telling you this because I also like to buy branded stuff but it's not because it's branded that you got to buy it blindly.
  • I was also thinking of that, why spend on $2700 on a Mac book when you can spend on Razer, there's some mini touch screens on the top right of the bottom part of the laptop.
  • I've tested that laptop and I can say it's really worth the price, the touch is smooth and if you take care of it correclty it will last.
