Though I understand it's probably scary for you, I'd love to be in an earthquake situation; obviously not in harms way though. I've only experienced one earthquake when I was about 6-7, but I don't remember what it felt like, and it was small.

when I was living in california, earthquakes are normal, big ones however can be felt. dangerous ones happen once in decades, but there supposed to be one in 30 years that will be huge....

Anything can be offensive but the joke was clearly not directed towards people who have/are diein. Any person with half a common sense could see that.
