A noob is someone whose only purpose is to detract from others' gameplay. A newb is someone who does that unintentionally. Admittedly I do use noob to describe newbs, mostly because pressing 'o' twice is a lot easier than pressing 'e' then 'w'.

I use "rookie". Noob is too common, overused, raging, not polite etc... In general I don't play the game to argue with people and tell them how noob they are. If someone kills me I usually type "ns". If they start to noob me(call me cheater ect.) then I call them rookies and sometimes I may even offer them to teach them some tips. I'm so noble. And so sexy!
