Q: Is a Ping Masker program illegal for CF?

I ask because I am more than sick and tired of being kicked because of my ping alone.

My friend has a program that he can tweak to actually change my ping, sort of like a tapper, only it wouldn't be used for anything other than changing my ping to a respectable three digit lag-less ping or status.

Would this be allowed or not?

edit: no files for CF would be altered in ANY way

Sounds like a cool program, I wouldn't mind being a Brazilian for a day but I wouldn't use it (if it were allowed or not allowed

I doubt it is allowed because you'll have to use a third-party program that interferes with the game files(?). Though, I may be wrong, but I really doubt that it is allowed.

I doubt it is allowed, you can wait for an official response but that isnt guaranteed.

Out of curiosity what is your ping?

We do not condone the use of third party programs. In the event that you are caught, you may or may not be banned based on the discretion of the person that is examining your case.

Like sticking utorrent on and running around with a 400 ping isn't bannable right?

Anyone who HONESTLY needs this type of program should just uninstall CF NA and try another version with servers closer to where they live.

i can say that it'd be cool to have a day of looking like a brazilian. Although a Brazilian could get ahold of it and it could spread like wild fire and we could have brs with 3Ping.. -.-*

That wasn't the question of the thread, the OP wanted to use a program to change how the ping was displayed, but without really changing his ping.

Downloading something while you play cf isn't bannable, just use your common sense :rolleyes:.

This is exactly what Im talking about. except i would be connected a streaming server, with controllable bandwidth usage vs cf. i.e. i figure out (with my current ping) how much bandwidth I need to use WHILE playing CF to get a higher ping, except im not downloading anything or having any other programs running. just the "tapper" , i know tappers are a negative denotation (i.e. a lag "hack") This one isnt controllable once in game. i would set my bandwidth usage, and get in game with a ping of 130~150 on Alpha.

it doesnt work like that. you cant LOWER your ping, only raise it.

I don't believe programs have the ability to greatly improve your connection to a server. Don't
bother with trying it, as it's a third-party program, and there really isn't a solid answer on this one.

Raise? In that case, find something that consumes a lot of internet, such a downloading a 10GB file from somewhere, or download a game or something. That will boost your ping up to like 300-1000ish.

I doubt that's the case, but I had fun writing it.

just run crossfire via openVPN ... stable 3 digit ping ... don't worry u won't affect any of cf files ... only what will be changed is ur location IP.

btw how u want it make stable another way? spikes at downloading are obvious.
