  • It would be really nice if I could get some help tho.
  • It looks like your XTrap is having troubles patching.

Solution 1: Turn off any anti-virus software you may have on. Rather than turning it off, as it sometimes doesn't always completely disable which is frustrating, you could add the Crossfire folder to your anti-virus's exceptions list, which you can learn how to do here.

Solution 2: Head over to your Crossfire folder (C:/Program Files/Z8Games/Crossfire) and delete the folder named "xtrap". Relaunch Crossfire, and allow XTrap to patch correctly.

Solution 3: A manual patch is available for those who are having patch issues. There is a small tutorial on the bottom of the thread which explains how to complete the manual patch without any problems. The manual patch thread is here.

    Good luck!
  • I had this problem as well. I tried uninstalling and re-installing and that didn't help. What you have to do is look through all of your temp files and find anything to do with crossfire. Wipe your computer of these files; they are telling your computer not to start crossfire, and without these files there would be nothing different going on. Your computer memorized you ending the CF process (i'm guessing through ctrl-alt-delete) and the file was stored that keeps CF from starting.

I'm not sure exactly how to do it, but I think this should work:
1 - Uninstall CF via control panel
2 - Delete the z8games folder from your program files folder
3 - go to internet explorer and follow this path:
    ---tools
    ---internet options
    ---(under temporary internet files) settings
    ---view files
---press the button that brings you to the folder containing the folder that you're currently in.
    ---Temp
---Delete all files in here that have "cf" in the title.

    Then re-install crossfire =D

    Now it should work. :D
