Filing a sexual harrasment complaint
There's this new server who is pretty rude to the female cooks (behind their backs) when my boss isn't around, which is generally Sundays. I'm not going to post what he says, because it's not appropriate for the Forums, and is full of disrespect.
Should I file a sexual harrasment complaint to my boss? This new server has been bossing me around a lot, which makes no sense, so I really don't like him at all.
He's 41, I'm 16. I just want to know if there are really any risks for me... I don't want to talk face to face with the server about this.

i had the same issue except the dude was hit me, he wasn't my boss but would boss me around, but he was in his 40's and would act like a kid, one day he smacked me, if it was my choice i would have made him a cripple right then in there, but my monkey instinct stopped and i decided to use my noodles, my boss was very good friends with him, i went to him first but he blew it off, (i got someone to witness this), than i went to the human resource department and filled out a complaint, waited a week (got someone to witness this as well), than i went to the police down the street after they did nothing, the man was arrested, loss his job, and i got money compensation out of this, eventually they fired me but at that point idgaf, best bet is to have someone witness what you are doing and go through these steps, go to your boss with your witness so they can back up what you say etc

Definitely tell your boss. It's unacceptable for anyone to disrespect anybody at all. If you let it go on, it'll only get worse. Also, if he's bossing you around, and he's not in charge of you, don't do it, unless you know it's right or necessary. There's always people like this in the world and maybe the reason he's so irritable at women is because maybe his wife left him and took all his money, got him fired, and now he's a server.

I just asked one of the cooks VIA facebook this: "Just wondering, but have you, or any of the other cooks heard sexual harrasment out of Shawn before? I've been hearing it a lot behind your guys' backs, and it's not really fair to you guys, or me to have to listen to that."
Debellate: funny, because he got divorced. He's also had a history with various drugs from what he's told me. -
lol that is funny, my dad worked for the government during this time and we looked up this guy's record and he had a long criminal record/drug abuse, lived with his mother as well, was pretty funny to find this out, he also took a lot of medication which was scary to believe because he operated dangerous machinery and this was no environment for someone like that.

I would have to say that if you feel like he SHOULD be reported (or whatever) then he should probably be reported. As for risks, let your boss know that you want your name to be left confidential. I'm sure your boss would be glad to keep it between the two of you and probably be happy you've reported this. Unless he is buddies with the server or if the server finds out by some other circumstance. So, yeah. After all that, I don't think I helped. :P -
Warn him. Tell him to stop bossing you around, just because he is older doesnt mean he can do that. Also tell him that if he continues disrespecting other staff members then you will file a sexual harassment complaint against him. If he gets aggressive go straight to your boss with everything (you dont want to be the one getting fired by being aggressive back).
Thats what I would do anyway. Show him you are not afraid to tell him what you think and he will show more respect and stop bossing you around. -
Why the HELL are you asking such a question on a gaming forum where the majority is barely older then you?...
Just go see the cops, they'll know what needs to be done.
I like this post.
Well, i would say go speak to your boss first. If he doesn't help just go to the cops. I've seen this before because i work at Ihop (Yea i work at Ihop, **** you *****es gonna say?) and have already seen 3 people getting fired/arrested due to harassment. So yea, Boss and if he fails, cops. Problem solved. -

+1
file a harrassment complaint with the authorities. -
It is completely legal to talk about people behind their backs.
It becomes harassment if and only if she both hears it personally and expresses a desire for the speakers to stop.
Furthermore, I doubt the cooks need your help. They're grown adults, no? -
The person being harassed decides when it is harassment.
If they don't know about it, its not your place to report it.
You could mention it to the server himself though, but given the age difference, without a rational argument hes just going to tell you off.
Also, if they (females) haven't noticed his trashtalking - make sure they do. -
The cooks are fully aware of the servers behavior, we're generally not a fan of him.
The comments he made behind their backs (in the next room, after yelling at them about telling them to use me for anything they needed) was directed right at the three line-cooks, who are all females. I'm very sure that this is considered sexual harassment, I and the mechanic (who I have no intentions speaking to, cause' he's creepy) were the only ones in the other room, next to the kitchen.
After speaking with my dad about it, we've come to terms that this is considered sexual harrasment without a doubt, even though it's not directed at me, I am still able to report his behavior. I think it's very unnacceptable to disrespect women, if he wants to pick a fight, he should have picked it with me, because I would of hit that old man.
Disrespecting women ain't cool. -
This is something you have to decide yourself. I'm not going to give you a recommendation but note that sexual harassment laws very from state to state. Make sure what he said to you is defined has sexual harassment in your state.
Don't file a lawsuit without substantial evidence. You can't base a case on hearsay. Ask fellow employees if they and willing to back you. If not consider bringing a tape recorder secretly to work.(Check your state laws first if you consider any controversial ways of receiving evidence) It's extremely unlikely that there will be an issue but some states have some very weird laws regarding sexual harassment.
Good luck. -
You're silly for even thinking that.
Moderator note
- Do not use implied profanity to illicit or provoke a negative response from other users or organizations. Ex: Typing "**** off" is no different than if you actually typed the swear word or not. They are both liable for moderation. -

I've seen better moderation on /b/ than this <removed>. -
Thanks guys, I started out with telling a supervisor of mine over facebook, I'll speak with my boss next weekend.
Thats a fail way to communicate. Thats the problem with the younger generation.. FB this FB that.
