vprot.exe is part of AVG Anti-Virus
avgtray.exe = AVG Tray Monitor
avastui.exe = Avast Antivirus
avastsvc.exe = Avast Antivirus
One of these is blocking Xtrap. Turn them off and try the game. You have a lot of crap running on you computer. Cut all the crap off when you play games. You will do a lot better. -

This guy knows whats going on. One of these programs is blocking xtrap's access to the server, which wont allow it to update, or even load. Turn off all those programs, and hopefully Crossfire will run smoothly.
(note: if it still doesn't work, delete your xtrap folder inside the Crossfire folder, then reload it) -
You have 2 Anti-Virus programs. uninstall one, disable the other when you want to play.
Just cutting the AVG off in Task Manager does not cut it off. You have to disable it. Same as Avast Antivirus.

After some intensive research (through foreign language forums), I found that the -103 XTRAP Error means that the Patch download was not able to download correctly because of a software blocking it from doing so. Here is my final solution, as this should work. If it doesn't work, then you've done it wrong.
Go here, and follow the tutorial at the bottom of the first post. This thread will guide you on manual patching for Crossfire. -
I formatted my C: drive and that did the magic! Now I am back to CF! There is definitely some programme that is blocking the XTrap but I am quite sure it's not the antivirus. I am glad that I had 2 drives, because of that I didn't have to lose all my files.
I guess that is the only solution you got right now, format your PC @Ledsasf -

No I was right from the very first solution, I bet if you really knew how to trouble shoot your computer. you will find AVG was blocking. Heres the deal. You had AVG on the computer when you tried to install CF. CF installed, but when xtrap update. AVG didnt let all the files load. I knew by you installing on a different Drive you would come to this conclusion. AVG is a nasty antivirus program, it takes controls of the computer. -
