File is changed : W[2007] L[2] crossfire.exe

Every patch I get the same error.

They used to have a tech support guy SirPano89 who used to link files that you could d/l and paste back into your folder to fix missing parts lost through lost packets for w/e reason, and It is not avast at all causing this, so having a closed "fixed" thread on this blaming Avast's definitions continually on an old resolved issue that had us users adding cf and xtrap and HG to the exceptions as well as the patchers and updaters. This happens every patch and is not resolved.

I can live with the fact that they are continually working on this, however declining to have such tech support, such as SirPano89's, is absurd considering the effort and time that it takes to link the fixes is minutes, and saves the user from having to d/l the latest client and un-install / re-install. Just makes no sense as to what motive drives them to continue to not put this issue to bed and SHUT US UP. Just simply provide us with someone like SirPan89.

Otherwise, what do you expect us to do. The forums are made for us to communicate with you and to try and make a better game experience for all.

I love how people keep referring to old threads, this is an old thread that doesn't even pertain to my situation. I had updated the new patch and played ALL NIGHT LONG. I woke up that next afternoon to log in and play some more and got the error.

SirPano89, after every patch, had a file fix that you could d/l in minutes and unrar to its destination in seconds....and voila....you were back up and running.

Stop giving people the cop out fix. It is lazy. I feel we have supported CF enough that 1 person could allocate the few minutes every patch, to provide a file fix like SirPano89 did.

I and hundreds, if not thousands, complain about this crap every patch.

SHUT US UP AND SUPPORT US.....why do I need to fight to make your lives easier?
  • The solution has worked for all the people I've referred it to.

Have you downloaded or installed anything out of the ordinary lately?

EDIT: I've checked out SirPano89's threads, and I think I'll make an attempt to mimic his creation. Give me a while.
  • Nope, I i GOT DC'D FROM THE SERVER JUST NOW AND then i get hack tool detected, and then load and get you have been banned 0 days.

I load again and get in, then I load a map, it freezes and I have to ctrl + alt + del end cf.

Then I load again And I get file has changed. Now again you would have me uninstall and reinstall again twice after patch..This is so bs.

And of course a reinstall works, but my point is it is not needed. SirPan89 knew that and so did his followers.

I really do appreciate your looking into SirPano89's work :) .

I am certain this all happens during CF's server unstableness. Which is caused by the surplus of data transmission during a patch.

I say this because just 10 - 15 minutes ago the alpha server dc'd me and in re-log in it said alpha was under maintenance. then it happened to bravo, then the above mentioned happened. That would indicate that loss packets on an overwrite or something from the dc or end process command, resulting in a corrupt file.

That is due to data transmission and w/o trying to sound like a flame. That overload resides on the CF side not mine. I RUN A FRESH XP SP3 WITH 3.4 INTEL 500k cache, 3 gigs of ram xp see's. Minimal programs running (22 in task manager), very under bloated. I use a HD5*** series video card. I use cf in low priority(ever since 3 - 4 patches ago required this, and setting affinity to cpu 0 only for those with dual core).

My internet makes the CF community jealous, with a 9 - 10 ping and 100 - 140 FPS. My download is near 1mb and my upload is half that. I am running direct wired not wireless, and I run with a very stable ISP and home setup. I never encountered any of these issues with my GuildWars game, or Left for Dead, or Call of Duty for that matter.
  • Settle down, I'm just uploading all the current patch files for you, and others. I hope you're right, that this is the solution to the error. It's going to be a while because my upload speed averages at about 85 kb/s, so please be patient.

Not getting angry at you, just that this just happened for the second time since the patch. I was venting before, just for it to happen after I do the re-install and then am playing again. ARRRRRRRRRRR :) .

It has been over and hour, the kids are finally quiet in bed or in rooms and I am getting this lol.
  • Just an after thought. Was looking at task manager processes and saw XTrap.xt runs.

This is not your typical .exe so it does not get added to Avast exceptions as the gui interface looks for .exe only.

    On Google, .xt =

Output file generated by Xdebug, an Apache Web server plugin used for tracing PHP execution; logs the output of the PHP code line by line; used for checking and debugging functions written in PHP.

Makes sense, so should this not also be added to exception of trusted processes in the behavioral shield? I added it to mine manually now, just to see for future sake. The drive path is:

    C:\Program Files\Z8Games\CrossFire\XTrap\XTrap.xt
  • I created a thread similar to SirPano89's with the latest patch files. I'm only missing the rez file because it's going to take a generously large amount of time to upload.
  • Thank you very much for talking the time to do this. I and many unknown users that will learn of this, appreciate all your efforts!
