Crossfire will never have a mic chat, or most of us won't want one. Mainly because there are already independent VOIP programs such as vent, teamspeak and mumble. Allowing us to privately chat with each other and we don't want to hear screaming ragers in game.
An server with a lot of american people or mainly low ping is echo 8.
Also this shouldn't be posted in technical support. -

I have a problem and hopefully someone can assisst me. when I log up crossfire I keep getting "timed out" come across my screen I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall it and that is not working n
what do I do to be able to play again
Where do you live? -
These are usually in steam games such as Team Fortress 2, or Counter Strike Source.
The servers for these games are hosted by someone that has admin powers to that server or has an option to vote for a ban.
CF does not have servers like this thus, spamming the chat cannot be controlled unless there's a mute function. But that would still be annoying since you have to worry about muting some spamming kid every game. -
GM sadian has said that there COULD be a chat system but it would take a lot of work(cant find his post sorry about that) so in the near feature i dont think so

Read number 12 on that link. Have a nice day. /thread solved and seeing as there is so many of these...
Also remeber to use the search function... -
I don't believe CF will get an In-Game form of chat. Some people prefer to play without Voice Comm.'s. On a second note, This is North American Crossfire, so there probably won't be a server/game specifically for Americans, as North America includes Canada too.
As for the VOIP thing, just use Ventrilo or TeamSpeak3, or another Voice Comm. program. -
Also, don't forget that the freemium business model is dependent on reaching as many users as possible. Voice chat is somewhat resource intensive, and cf is designed to be able to be played by those with a lesser platform and connection than many other competing games.

I'm all for games with in-game chats, but I don't think it suits this game. I think that is better for pay-to-play games. There are plenty of clans you can join that use voice communication programs.

Americans play in all the servers, I don't think some have more than others. -
There is an agreement with Xfire to provide such services.
Hence that is why it is there as an optional install in every download of CF.
So now there's no need for some internal VOIP when there are perfectly capable 3rd-party programs out there that can get the job done.
As for the server thing. This is an international game for all regions who don't have a CF located to them.
This company hasn't broken up the South American License. So we get that region too as the sole exception as they have their own version now.

I doubt it will ever happen and personally hope that it never does. Or at least if it does there definitely would need to be an option for disabling all players from the get go. You just end up with QQing over the mic.... Its bad enough with typing never mind over voice com.
