  • you actually see more in movies than books. you can see facial expressions and tones of voice. in a book, they may try to explain to you how a character is acting but it will never be as accurate as picture.

this is why uk is so far behind now. england lost world power because they are too busy reading books and worshipping queens living in the stone ages while america is out getting things done.
Obviously we have completely different standards.

Your facial expressions in movies are fictional, added for lulz.
Behavioral science is only interesting in the real world - analyzing acting actors is kind of pointless.
When they explain it in a book, its how the author intended.
When they do it in a movie, its how the DOP interpreted how the director wanted it, who misunderstood the screen writer who misunderstood the shortened novel, who misunderstood the original author.

Movies are made for quick entertainment.
The science behind it is quite interesting (not to me, but there is a science behind it).

The world however, was built on books.
But by all means, go enjoy Avatar, it'll change your life if it haven't already.
  • also have you read any of the redwall books?

I'm definitely not a reader (because I doubt comics counts, hah)! But I want to read those at some point. I've watched all of the animated series in french when I was young and in english recently, for old time's sake, <3

Man, I like those stories, ^.^ For those interested!

    Epic theme btw!

Hopefully I'll get to read the whole series, someday, ^.^

But are those expressions, like they are really meant to be in original story? There is different kind of ways to communicate, 1 is through voice, a verbal communicating. This is what many thinks is our main way to communicate, but it isn't. 2nd way is non-verbal communicating.
Even thought, you get to see face expressions, that doesn't tell how rest of the body acts.

You can see everything and even more in books compared to movies, since that all YOU create, by "listening"(=reading) what someone tells you. After you've read "the instruction", you can build your own movie in your head.
..Of course if the one knows how to use imagination.
    <*^_^*>

In movies -like I said before - there's everything served done-ready to you. No need to work with your brains. Except the memory process.

Actually this made me think.. Maybe books are doomed, because people are too lazy to train their brains? That's reason why so many appreciates movies over books, maybe?

If you want to see me being clever then yes, go on and read.
    <*^_^*>
Otherwise, there's mostly discussion about books and argument around movies and books.

The Animals of Fathering Wood? Is that a series or movie?
  • The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time (murder mystery)
    Clay (a bit of fantasy)
Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry (realism based on the american depression)

Tom Clancy and Antony Horrowitz are good authors if you like CF.

    And if you like fantasy:

    Harry Potter series
    Hunger Games
    Percy Jackson series
    The Wind Singer

  • if there is a book worth reading it would be turned into a movie. There is no point to reading books.

    Books and movies suck....

Both are boring, and there the resemblance ceases :p
  • I dont know if anyone has heard of this series.... It is called "Pendragon" and it's a series of 10 books.. They are all really good in detail, and keeps you on your seat. Its an amazing series, and its hard to explain... and a little confusing at first, but once you realize whats going on... YOUR LIKE OMGGGGGGGGGGGG

edit: i hate reading, and after i read the first book for a book report i had to do, i couldnt help myself from reading the 2nd one... eventually i ended up owning all 10 books, and read them all twice. this is definatley a series that should have a movie on it.

I need to change distance from where I'm reading a book once in a while or otherwise my eyes start to hurt and letters starts jumping around. I don't have glasses and I've never checked my eyesight at doctor. I know I should, thought. ^^'
