The Psychology of Ranks/Farming

Hey, was just wondering what all y'all think about ranks and shiz, you know? Well, what I mean is, basically, when you join a room and see a player with a certain rank, what is your psychological reaction?

Personally, when I started the game I was like "Butterbars OMG they so scary" but now Butterbars have no effect on me either way, because some are pro, some are noob, and I'm a Master Sergeant so their rank isn't that far removed from my own

1LTs command a little more respect from me, although some are pretty noobish. Still 1LTs and Captains, I am usually a bit more intimidated by, because a lot of the time, these ranks are legit and not farmed (see the following paragraph).

Gold leafs and above are just a joke; to me they are the same as Corporals. Most of the time they are pretty average if not outright noobtastic. Very seldom have I played a farmer who can play on my own level... Not to stereotype super-high ranks (aka farmers) as "no skill" (btw is this still censored by the in-game filter? lol), but yeah, that's basically the stereotype I'm propagating here.

tl;dr = you're lazy -.- just gimme yo opinionz on teh rankz and their psychological effect on other players

And you must meet and see all the br farmers cause every single uk and north american farmer I know can manage a two kdr or more in public games (including myself on most days)

Rank means nothing to me. They could be a Marshal and they will take the same bullets as a trainee.

The rank for me is equal to 0..You can be a Sfc or you can be a General you will always die like everyone (atleast if you don't use a hack ) or maybe a little heavier by using bulletproof

Pfft, I'm more intimidated by a smiley-face than a high rank. The smiley face is more likely to hack. <_<
That aside, I'm a legit Captain and personally I find it annoying how when I join the room (especially if my man is accompanying me who is also a captain), they follow us from side to side of the room so we can't join on the same team, like they assume we're pro and refuse to play against us. It's ridiculous.

even as a real soldier ....ranks intimidated me lol

but here i think captains are the one to get me i always seem a little edgy around them

Rank means nothing, if people find the need to farmer let them.
If they feel like they can't get a 2.0 kd+ legitly then what can you do?

I'm only intimidated by known GM players, though not as much now as I had when I just started this game.

I don't really care about ranks, or farmers really. Farmers aren't harming anyone with what they do. I wouldn't like to get called a farmer though. I'll probably stay a captain for a long time, and I'll buy exp plus again when most of my friends catch up.

You're going to generate a lot of hate here. I'd consider revising because some high ranked people are legit, such as *KatKat, who is a Colonel. Legitly. People, and the MODs too, may take this as a hate thread and close/delete it. Just my suggestion. I've met plenty of players who are good, but still farm. So not all farmers are baddies as you've implied.

I read it all. That is exactly how I feel. Often the best players are Under Butter Bar or under the gold leaf. AKA 1st Lieutenants and captains. I've been playing for 3 years and I'm still a 1st lieutenant.

btw, you do realize just because someone that let's say, Brigaider General, doesn't mean they farm? there's 5 or more people that rank that have never farmed in their life, but yes, they play every day lol.

Well, I'm a colonel 7th class, so nearly general. And every pub game i get 3 k/d +. My cw snd k/d is nearly 3 too.

When I was new I never played against LT's. When I created a room I always kicked them. Now since I am a LT they all kick me out of their rooms.

when I was new to the game I was also intimidated by high ranks too xD Always tried to be on their team like a good old noob :rolleyes: Back when I was a 'OMG he killed me I didnt move hacka!!' as a ghost (yes once upon a time that happened xDDD )

But now rank really doesnt affect me. I used to play to get the highest rank possible but soon realised rank doesnt mean skill. I'm captain myself now and have been for quite a while I just dont bother to play hard all the time like I used to I prefer just to have the fun of busting ghosts heads open :rolleyes:
