Assuming that your first hint says: d1cken , I guess the book was written by Charles D1ckens and name of it is ''A Tale of Two Cities" since La Guillotine (3rd hint) is related to that book I think, I also think that A Tale of Two Cities has 374 pages + the front and back cover + 2 uncounted pages would be something like 378.

To be clear I am counting every single page of the book, even the notes, cover, preface, title page etc. I am counting the page as a book format. Front= 1 page, the back of that page=2, just as you would read it.
PLEASE NOTE THIS: if there is a 1 page book then the answer would be 6- Front and back of cover of book, 1 pages of text and counting the back of this page etc. Laying on side you would see 3 pages of paper but multiply by 2 for front and back got it?
This makes it seem weird but essentially you can just take the literal page thickness you think it is cover to back and multiply by 2 if you want. <<----JUST TO BE CLEAR.
I am sure this confused every one but ask if you need more clarification.

So in a book you have 1 page. There's a front and back of the page, so the 1 page(front and back) count as 2. For example, if there's 200 individual pages in a book, the book would be counted as 400 pages. Then he also counts the front and back cover, front and back of both. -
The book was the signet classic version of "A tale of two cities". The regular page was 13-367 which was 354 pages with 32 pages of notes/cover/preface etc to =386. Maple did a completely random guess too which is funny because two people guessed that so I assumed that someone found the exact answer by finding that book at a borders or something. Congrats nonetheless.
