Is this computer mainly going to be for gaming? Or some workstation purposes?
I'm not going to build, and its going to used mostly for gaming(but i dont game on computer that much so i don't want to go over $1200) -
If you don't game much don't bother spending over 700
I disagree with this statement. Sorry meng.
If you are going into engineering or the corporal world, then I would recommend getting a HP Elite series laptop. I'm currently using one right now, and it serves all of my engineering and stat/math analysis that I have placed on this thing from PERL to any other manipulation of #C.
Also, very good for the image when walking into a library or a cafe to do some work with your colleagues. And image is a very important thing. Keep it classy my friends. -

For gaming, find a computer with a 2500k and a 7850/7870.
Better yet, wait for the Ivy Bridge chips to come out on April 29th and the rest of Nvidia's 6xx cards to come out in May.
