I don't play UK cause of ping, so if anyone wants to take charge on UK, please do. Post ch here xD
hosting shudn't be a problem if we got players, so yeah which server/channel shud it be O_o
  • Maybe if the GRs on the room can use only silenced weapons (only for primary, due to the fact that there are no silenced pistols), what do you think??
  • Also can we block using m12s and SL ? would be great.

One thing I should stress: This [Mod] system will ONLY work if EVERYONE follows the rules and kicks offenders faithfully.

That's where the problem lies, it may start off well, but it won't last.
  • fantastic idea, i'll be dropping in to whoop some butt :)
  • Great Idea. You should award something to the creator of the whole concept. A+ idea.
  • Sounds like the try hard version of GM.

While you shiftwalk in private rooms, I will be spraying every ghost to death with ak gold =)

I have no idea which UK servers are "good", so choose one you think is best :o

I think that's a little overbeaing. We want people to have fun, not "force" them to use certian weapons. You'll notice I didn't ban AKs/M60s/ect from GM, just highly discouraged their use. You can try to enforce weapon limits on your particular room, but I'm going to leave it out of the "Official" guidelines for the reason stated above.

Oy, ye of little faith, you forget that most F12'ers are noobs or other hackers - people who won't last long in a [Mod] game anyway. But, as Mad-Eye Moddy says, "Constant vigilance!

I crouchwalk as GR. Smaller target and more stability. Also don't forget, spraying is frowned upon! Especially AK spraying!
  • This is a genius idea, can't believe it hasn't been implemented already :P
I guess I will join or host later today... probably around 5:30 PM my time

Draft some simple rules and PM them to me :O

Note: This idea arose from this thread: http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=203974, specifically, my response to a suggestion made by SamuraiMoMo.

Due to the GM event, there has been a _massive_ flood of noob players into GMs. While this is great for the game (not to mention easy exp for the pros!) the Daily Mission ruined it all with noobs being outfitted with Katanas, BD, and thinking they’re invincible. On the GR side, noob AK/m60/Tommie sprayers destroy our ears, panicking because of the overpowered Black List swarms.
I love GM, it’s my favorite mode. But SOMETHING must be done or we’ll lose the old pros…. and our hearing. Thus, I present to you… [Mod] matches!
The goal of [Mod] matches is to provide a fair-yet-fun, competitive atmosphere where you can play against strangers, but without the usual public problems of hackers and QQers, as well as match-specific plagues like AK Sprayers and Prison Knifers.

(If the idea is popular, maybe we can expand these rules to other match types…)

    What is a [Mod] match?
A [Mod] match is a game that operates under a special (modified) set of rules. The matches are player-moderated and based largely on the honor system. The rules are common-sense-courtesy types of things.
You can identify Mod rooms them by the [Mod] tag in the room name, and they’ll be passworded with “mod” to keep out people who don’t know what Mod matches are.
The special rules are universal to a particular game type – GM rules apply equally to any GM game, for instance - and everyone (should) know them and they will be strictly enforced. By joining a [Mod] match, you agree to the rules.

    The Rules:
    ALL MATCHES:
    • No hacking. Period.
    • No “hackusations”. If you think someone is hacking, spamming “F11 HAK KIK HAK!” helps no one and will get you kicked. Instead, simply say “Hey [Opposite team], can you watch [player name]? I think they’re [Aimbotting/Speeding/Chamming/ect]” and leave it at that. Let the other team watch the player from the first person, and make the decision themselves. We're not all idiots, we can tell a hack when we see one.
    • No QQing. QQing helps no one and ties up chat. It will result in an immediate kick.
    • Tell people who you’re kicking and why. Be a man, grow some balls. If you’re kicking them for violating one of these rules, you should have no problem saying it in general chat. Telling others your reasoning will get you more F11s.
    • You MUST kick. If someone legitly kicks a rule breaker, explains what rule was broken, and others agree, you MUST press F11. In an 8v8, almost every kick vote should be 15-1.
    • Want to kick someone for some other reason? Discuss it in General Chat first. Ask that person (nicely) if they could please stop doing xyz that's annoying you.
    • Don’t like a rule? Can’t handle the heat? Entire other team hacks*? ESC>Enter>Enter is your friend.
*Read as: “You suck so bad a 2 year old could kill you.”

    GM:
    Global Risk side:
    • If you’re spraying, you’d better kill something, fast. Otherwise, you’ll find yourself booted for making people's ears bleed. The spraying tolerance is inversely proportional to the loudness of the weapon. For you younglings out there it means the louder your weapon, the more likely it is that you’ll be kicked. AKs suck. Get an M4A1-Adv.
    Black List side:
    • You really did fail that b-hop. You were in smoke. You breathe like Darth Vader. Did I cover everything? Oh yes, extended camping is for noobs, and excessive amounts may get you kicked, depending on who’s in your room.
    HMX/HM/MM:
    Soldier side:

    • To be decided
    Mutant Side

    • Don't be an ***hole. No blocking. This includes protecting soldiers AND trapping other mutants.
    FAQ's
    • Who can join a [Mod] match? Anyone, as long as they abide by the stated rules. Rank does not matter.
    • Who can create a [Mod] match? Anyone. Just follow the rules, put [Mod] in the room title, and create the appropriate password. For the most part, the creators will be higher level Pros who are tired of dealing with the crap in open public rooms. But anyone can make one.
    • Where can I find matches? A [Mod] match may be created anywhere, although some channels are "preferred" and will most likely have the most [Mod] matches. These vary by region: US: Alpha 7. UK: ??? West US: ???

One last note: If everyone in a [Mod] match has used up their kick votes, it’s common decency for the team member with the least kills to exit and reenter the match, and thereby recharge their kick votes.

Now I've shared my idea with you. I'd like constructive criticism. Any flaming will be ignored.

All this week, I'll be hosting [Mod] rooms in Alpha channel 7, to test this whole idea. Please drop in...

If you don't see one, feel free to make one or whisper me (Xcelled194)

    you just QQ
  • If you just would stop *****ing please.. just play the game like everyone else
    i dissapprove of your post

I love how he inflated his post count by splitting up a post into a quote and a flame ;). No one is making you read the forums or join a [Mod] room, so, if you don't see anything you like, move along...

Make up some rules and we can make that happen :D Am back in Alpha 7, btw
  • sounds good, but too late for me.
i cant really play too much anyways to find these rooms.
    Edit:
for hmx and other mutation modes, made soldiers unable to use flashbangs and smoke or kicks will be registered.
  • Watch random players join in and and not even notice the MOD room name xD
Hopefully this gets popular cause my ears bleed in GM so much -_-

Thats what the password is for xD

Also, please people, spread the news of [Mod] matches. Start a few! Tell friends! We *need* to get stuff going or this idea will flop. I can post all I want to these forums, but when it comes down to it, YOU, my fellow players, are responsible for making this a reality! Please do your part!

That happens, but I just switch to BL to take advantage of the time to work on my bhop.
  • That happens, but I just switch to BL to take advantage of the time to work on my bhop.

Why switch to bl? You can practice bhopping on gr AND annoy ghosts at the same time C:
  • I could host some rooms for 1,2 hours, now on my way to grandma for lunch :D

To be honest.....it's the F11'ers that concern me more, too many people WILL kick legit players for various reasons.

You know what?......even the noobs that don't know their erse from their elbow think like that - 'I'm not stupid, I know what a hacker looks like!'

Please don't say that's what the password is for.....sure it will keep the noobs at bay for a while....but it's a publicly distributed password.

Don't get me wrong, your idea for BS free games is good but with the current kick vote system, it WILL be abused.

It would be better if the devs built in an option to create a [MOD] room which either :

    • removes the kick vote but allows the host to kick anybody in-game.
    • or keeps the kick vote but only allows the host to initiate the vote.
    • Maybe also allow the host to forfeit the current round (take a death, acquired kills still count) to switch to spectator to watch a suspicious player but only allowing them to rejoin the game at the start of the next round.
That way, even if the room is mostly noobs (that includes high rank noobs) as long as you trust the host you don't need to worry.
  • sounds good.. hope to see more of these [mod]matches without Hi XD
  • I can Host some matches in UK sometime, cuz if someones plays only in UK. So its fair also for them.
  • To be honest.....it's the F11'ers that concern me more, too many people WILL kick legit players for various reasons.

Would really have to convince the devs to make [MOD] games a seperate game mode.
  • 2 sentence and you make a whole idea of it....
  • Really cool idea. I think most of the forum users have responsibility enough to cooperate in a Mod match.

You bring up good points ;) Let my try to address them...

The idea is that we get a majority of honest people, to minimize the noobs who kick to steal an ace, for example. If they can't prove/justify the kick, it won't pass. Simple as that.

As for the hackers, it IS pretty obvious when someone speeds, aimbots, or chams. All headshots? Kick. Lots of cross map, invisible ghost kills? Kick. ect

The password really isn't meant to keep people out, just to make sure they know that it's not a regular match. They're not going to be able to do the old "pick a room, any room" thing. A side bonus is that it keeps people who've never been on the forums (Aka noobs) out of the room.

"Don't get me wrong, your idea for BS free games is good but with the current kick vote system, it WILL be abused."

It's abused anyway :c I'd rather play in a [Mod] room where it's less likely to be abused than to get kicked out of every pub for being 5-1.

As for the dev's putting in a whole new mode, see vvvvvvvvvvv
Would really have to convince the devs to make [MOD] games a seperate game mode.

Not just hard, impossible. :/ How do you make a mode that detects spraying, for instance? You'd have to rewrite the entire game engine, and even then it still wouldn't work well. [Mod] games need human judgement.

The same thing goes for the kick-vote system. How long was it before we got kick vote on FFA? A year? And that was simply adding the pre-existing system, not creating a whole new one...

2 sentence and you make a whole idea of it....

What can I say? You were the spark to the can of gasoline. :O

That's my hope with these [Mod] matches. Responsibility, Honesty, and a mean F11 button...
  • Would you like to know a more reliable way?

you'll kick yourself that you didn't think of it first. xD

    create a 16 slot room.......this next bit is important.....Invite at least 9 like-minded friends......enjoy your game.

Do you really believe that only people that come to this forum will know the password?

Do you really believe that everybody READING this forum is honourable?

Why do you think having [MOD] in the room name will result in a room with the majority honourable players?

As for the hackers, it IS pretty obvious when someone speeds, aimbots, or chams. All headshots? Kick. Lots of cross map, invisible ghost kills? Kick. ect
So if i'm in room with you and i get 8 headshots 0 deaths, your gonna kick me because i must be a hacker right?

How about, killing invisible ghosts at the other side of the map with you watching me but due to ping differences I see the ghost move especially if it's just a little flash, you don't see it......I must be a hacker right?
