How to cap my fps?
Im sick of my fps spiking from 150-215 on my laptop because it makes my screen freeze so I cant switch weapons for a split second, or lose my recoil control, or not even be able to move out of the way and other stupid crap like that which always results in a... death.
All because of these random drops from 215 to 150. SO, I want to cap my fps at 135.
Can anyone help/tell me how to cap my fps at 135?
Should I call tech support?
Or should I just order the Alienware m18x laptop?

V-sync can kill your fps some...go turn that on. V-sync attempts to run the game at the same refresh as the monitor.
However If your screen is 60Hz (refresh rate) and V-sync is enabled AND your fps drops below 60fps your framerate will drop another 50%. This can be prevented by using double or tripple buffering, but you'll need lots of video ram - some video cards have override settings for games (like nvdia's 3D application dealy)
Also ---> if you play other games and want high FPS, turn OFF V-sync or it will not go past what your screen's refresh rate is (example of this is C&C renegade, if I V-sync with it, I get 60 fps. If I turn V-sync off, I get 1000~ fps <--- old game, lol)
Just on a sidenote, odd that it dropping like that could cause a freeze...are you sure it is not just dropping to 0.5 or something like that? 200 to 100 or even down to 60 should not be all that noticeable in the first place. -
You can turn on V-sync from your video card's preferences...its different for everybody, mine is in my taskbar all the time.
For example...I use ATI, so I have a "catalyst control center" where I can change a lot of options
I don't know how to do it with integrated graphics cards, so if you have one, beats me. -

This program you're talking about COULD help, but I just need my fps to sit still.
Do you know any way to for sure cap it? Or could you figure it out for me?
If so, it would save me some money. Im getting to the point of just getting a better laptop q:DnB_Gaming wrote: »Wow thats pretty high fps for a laptop. I'm not to sure how to cap your fps so don't really know what to tell ya. My desktop gets like 120 fps at lowest graphics -_-xD Yeahh, Im thinking about just getting an Alienware m18x instead, this is pretty annoying for me q:StrongRice wrote: »Put your game settings to the lowest? Ah ok, I do to. I'll try and see. The fps spikes cause my bunny hop to stop either mid air or right before I jump again.. Quite annoying. -

Do u mean fps or ping?
Usually high fps is just better, but high ping is just bad.
It might be because ur IP is buggy or something, u shud shut ur internet modem for the night and then it might come back to normal...
But idk if u are using a modem :Pfps, but I think I'll try turning off the internet like you said. Hopefully it gives good results...CrackinDomes wrote: »Rip. Off.
Over priced. I can build same quality IF not better for half the price.
Refer to my previous statement. RIP OFF.
I dont know how to make a computer, so it's worth it for me xD -
Dude wdf?
Know you're stuff before you post PLEASE.
-.-
Do you even know what fps stands for?
Please do you're research and know what you're talking about first. Why the hell would you want lower fps.
A guy asks you do you mean ping. Which is the status number beside you're name. AKA PING. But you still want lower fps. -_- Ok you want less frames per second go ahead. -.- waow.... -

limiting your fps smooths the visuals, cuts down fps spikes, and lightens the load on your system. I am not a fan of vsync, but I do cap my fps in every games I can
