does using knife as BL for Ghost Mode make you pro?

Many high ranks didn't get to a high rank from GM but from TDM and SND instead.
Since GM has been the top mission this month, a lot of non-GMers are flooding in.
These players may have done well in other modes but GM requires a different skill set then most players have, so when they play they get beaten pretty easily by those who have the skill set. Since these players do well in other modes they assume they should do well in GM to, and since 90% of the player base barely know the basics of GM, they usually do intill someone with skill comes along.
GM is the most hack accusing mode for a few reasons.
1. It is round based. Those who are to impatient to wait when they die usually start kicking people. And since waiting doing nothing for a bit can feel like a punishment, they lash out on those that killed them.
2. Doing well on BL is far harder then on other modes, and a decent BL player can destroy a GR team if they don't know how to play. The skill level needed to compete in GM has a higher entry level then other modes, meaning those new to it die fast and often. Players dieing in 20 seconds and waiting up to 2 minutes every round is a common sight. So these players lash out on those that kill them.
3. GM requires knowledge that many do not have and won't make the effort to learn.
They only know what they see and many ignore sound altogether. Since ghost are only visible well moving, both BL and GR come to the belief that a still ghost is impossible find.
If either made a effort to learn about the mode, they would find out that ghost have breath and it can be tracked.
Such great insight observations. I hope the new players get a chance to read this. There are quite a number of unethical players out there. From my experience, I have met no less of those experienced GM players with the same unethical behaviors. What I get ****ed off most is after the game being who I am, whatever quarrel in the game when it's finished it goes away after the game, and when new game start they will kick me in the same room or if we happens to meet in another room. Not to mention all the hate whisper lol. Some even give me a deadline to when my account will be banned permanently and it's comes from an experienced player. lol I think it is proper to make a thread to share our experience in GM to the newer player, so they dont make haste judgment to kick without proper cause. -
Axe, cuz it's considered classy still.
or Wrench, cuz that's the flavour of the month.
or knife, so no one can say anything lol
Winner. You're title question is miss-worded. Using any weapon doesn't make you pro but what you mean to ask is "Is there a standard to which pros abide by that using a knife would exude a nation of classiness and skill to which other melee weapons cannot contend?" The answer is no. Using a knife does allow someone to have some sort of bragging rights because It does require the most effort to kill someone, which is pretty indisputable. People say that they are better knifers than axers etc but this is mostly because they like the speed bonus from knifn which can give a confidence and a better hop leading to better timing. If thier hop was better and timing better they would surely be more successful axers imo. Wrench poops on all of these ideas because it is light and hits like a kriss. Wrench is also good for building so I think it can make professional builders? I hope this helps. -
About the knife belittlement, I wouldn't agree. I personally don't like using my axe in knife SnDs because I find it very OP compared to my knife, so I personally use my knife, not because I think they fail too much to play against me, but because I don't play knife for the kills, but for fun. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that just because a "pro" uses a knife doesn't always mean he's trying to belittle someone.
You probably misunderstood me. In no way I am saying using knife is belittling anyone if you use for the enjoyment purpose not because you think other can't handle you when you use zp weapons. And I'm not talking about SnD or any other modes except for GM.

I do agree with you. Using any of your weapon as your free choice for entertainment is perfectly fine, so what difference does it make if someone was to use other weapon? Why do they have to go through the name calling and maltreatment? I used various kinds of weapon including knife, but since I have all these other perm melee I rarely pack my knife. Just like with guns I have a bunch of guns but i only stick with four that i used the most, because i like them. I like perm melee weapon and I collect them when I can.
Any weapon in the right hand is dangerous regardless and knife is not excluded. I've played my fair share of any melee weapon, and I know that knife can be a bit more challenging. I also have katana for 90 days but it's sitting in my storage, simply because i dont like it.charchar94 wrote: »I rarely call someone a hacker unless i am 100 percent sure they are hacking
and a pro is some one who is a good all around player, someone who can use all weapons well well
I agree. As i mentioned in my previous post, those who has high adaptability will be successful in competing in this game.
I am the same way when it comes to thinking of calling someone a hack. When someone is being called a hacker, I will observe them, until I can convince myself that i'm not kicking a good player then and only then will I open for vote and after game, save the replay for report. I've been behind on the report lately due to the amount of replay I have. I dont just report, I have to watch the report myself to make sure that I am well convinced before reporting.Winner. Hey slinky...lol. This sure does help a lot. Well, the title is from someone who not in those word but pretty close to it said it to me, because I killed him with a shovel right after the first kill. He RQ and whispered me lol. You know, one of the reason why I used all these zp melee weapon is because of the sound it makes. The wrench to me is like a drum stick, I like to beat it on the metal or wall. It sounds fun.Axe, cuz it's considered classy still.

No one can say anything when you used knife? I've been called speed knifer lol. -

I admit it, I call the ace of the other team in the dailies a hacker to get them kicked when I am ****ed off that the games are taking too long and I have to clutch every time. No hate, but I am just learning ot get over it and do the daily missions with my clanmates to get them done quicker. -
I like to think of it this way, this is a game, it's made for enjoyment, so using whatever you want within the legal boundaries of the game is reasonable.
yeah it is, i understand.
but for me, it's a moral thing. when i play GR side, and all the other team is kukri/shovel/kris/axe, i don't have fun. and i bet my teamates aren't having a blast either. so when i play BL i think to myself, i will knife so i don't completely trash the other team for 30 minutes because that's how i would like it if i was GR. you can't hear anything in gr pubs. the zp melee are just overkill.
the game is much more enjoyable when the battlefield is a balanced fight.knife, so no one can say anything lol
slasher noob low breath bunny hop camper. you are not safe using the knife either. -

YES! That is exactly why I love it! If you hit certain sign, a site or b site, it makes a tin can sounds as well as the usual bass drum hit on walls. It also has the slight moving of the internal bolt that clicks with every swing. XD So awesome! -
...I agree. As i mentioned in my previous post, those who has high adaptability will be successful in competing in this game.
Gm was "carved" from what was a really hard mode. yet people adapted. some even familiar with its technique from other versions of cf....
clans were formed and standards were set.
Came to be a law around. where people seen using shovel were considered "noobs" "rookies" "outcasts".. then again, exceptions were made on occasions where ha.ckers would crash the party ...
fact remains: it was overpowered then and still is to date.
Theres nothing wrong with using a shovel, a kukri, or wrench.... if you would prefer being unknown.. yeah.
"dominating with the knife makes you pro. using it just shows you got class/mercy/respect"- i stand by this statement. If knife don't work, theres always the axe. -

LOVE the wrench! Now they should make screwdrivers, the whole set would be nice.
Everytime i play with the wrench i like to think to myself that i'm a mechanic and a musician. I make musics off of walls, and fix lose screw in hackers' head. -
LoL. Its so funny that if you are high rank and do like 20-1 in GM all say hac.ks, raks, whatever, u cant teach them to be good or something cuz they always say hac.k ... Yesterday I played in Alpha with Colt LMG and went to 35-8 and I always killed that 1 guy who started to QQ a lot , finally he left.. but joined back to GR team (he was in BL) and started hac.king just because I was killed him like 4-6 times ... Huh.. So I think u cant teach those QQ'ers to be good or pro, or even see if that guy is good or hhac.ker or pro.. lol
Luckily I play more in UK.. not so much QQ xD -

I've actually taken the time to teach a German kid and a Br the basics of GM so they would stop QQing and get a lil better , they seem to have gotten better. -

I have like 2 times tryed to teach some kids also some GM things.. But I havent seen then playing CF after that at all :O But still I think some guys dont even want to learn , cuz they think they are best and every1 who kills him is hac.ker .. -
It's a matter of principle rather than skill these days. If i get a lucky and clutch the entire team the first round i'm in a SnD, i'm obviously a hacker. If i do the same thing towards the end of the game, the other team cries out for me to be kicked, but usually the team just says 'nice shot' and we continue. Too bad there isn't an easy fix to make people play more honourably.

People do judge Pro players and hackers based on the ranks.
If a low ranked player has 10-0, he is a hacker for sure whereas if
a high ranked player has 10-0 w/ hacks then he is pro.
This goes on a lot in CF. :S
No no no no ones pro
To be pro you have to get payed to play -

Just to add to your post VATAV and I know you know all I am going to say, but to add for the others, we also hear when you sheath and unsheath your melee weapons, can hear the swing of the weapon, can hear your footsteps and what they sound like on different surfaces ( metal, wood, etc )Such great insight observations. The main discontent with the melee weapons is not only the overpower part but the lag and reach of these weapons. Many times the character hasnt even started to swing yet and you die only to see the swing start after your death.. the sound of the shovel comes way after its point of contact also adding to the problems.
I dont care how powerful the weapon is, there is no reason for it to be a kill from like 30 feet away.. thats the sucky part. -

The massive amount of ways to know if a ghost is there in this game makes wall and cham hacks very difficult to spot unless they are being very obvious about it. I can usually tell the difference between pinpointing, smart guess work, random luck, and hacking most of the time.
Ways to know a ghost is there.
1. Saw the ghost move there or near there.
2. See blood from when a ghost took damage.
3. Water ripples in water areas.
4. Lights, smoke, and sometimes clear surfaces make a ghost shaped void when near them.
5. Ghost just planted the bomb.
6. Ghost just killed a teammate.
7. Ghost just injured you or a teammate.
8. Ghost hiding in a common ghost hiding spot.
9. The breath of the ghost when near.
10. Footsteps when a just is running. Foot steps also make different sounds on different surfaces so it is possible to know EXACTLY where the ghost is just from 2 seconds of footsteps.
11. The sound of melee weapons being swung or sheathed.
12. The sound of a ghost taking fall damage.
13. bumping into the ghost well they are still or b hopping.
14. Learning the common routes ghost take to spots.
So many ways to know or suspect a ghost is there. -

it's all fun and games until the next day he comes back with aimbot/chams because he can't get a kill with 180 ping against shovels.
in short; they hack because people shovel/zp melee. then the mode dies for a while until xtrap updates. then the cycle starts over. we knife, the mode stays clean

i thought theyre hacking just for fun

The 3 most common reasons to hack:
1. Wants to win.
2. Wants to have fun.
3. Wants revenge.
Reason why most hackers have high ping.
For "1. Want to win", high ping makes winning much harder.
Have two players of equal skill and both a ping of 100 face each other and it be a very close game. Have the same two players face each other again but have one with 50 ping and the other with 150 and the instead of both being 1.0 KDR or close, one gets a 2.0+ KDR and the other 0.5 or less KDR. Just changing the ping difference affects it this much. So some hack so they can finally win.
For "2. Wants to have fun", most of us can agree that losing over and over, dieing and waiting doing nothing for minutes, and generally doing horrible in a game isn't any fun.
Again high ping is to blame. Most of us would just quit and find a new game if the current one isn't fun. Problem is, most high pings are not going to have fun with any game due to being so far from any major games servers. So they hack because it is the only way they will ever have fun in most MMO games. For many it is either hack and have fun or not play any games at all and have no fun.
For "3. Wants revenge", high ping can make it look like others are hacking.
Dieing behind walls they just got behind, players apparently taking no damage from dozens of shots, players popping out and killing them before they have any chance to react, and dieing suddenly with no warning. This makes it look like many are hacking, so they hack to fight against the their perceived hackers. But it was their high ping that was the cause all along.
