Sound Bug
Hello, I posted about this issue a year ago but I had no response, and I want to come back to this game again, so I would appreciate any sort of help I could get.
So I can't hear any footsteps or gunfire in game, but I can hear radio messages. Apparently this is a common issue but no one has found a solution yet. I use windows 7 (my XP computer worked fine with Crossfire), I run Skype in the background, which isn't an issue because I tried closing it.
Any solution would be appreciated.

So, if you never heard these sounds yet there seems to be something wrong with your RF018.rez file. Either your game does not have read access for it or it is just broken. Although I don't know if it is going to work try changing the safety settings for the rez folder like this:
[IMG2=JSON]{"data-align":"none","data-size":"full","src":"http:\/\/www.ld-host.de\/uploads\/thumbnails\/16c6214bc09401f2df55ab9d7140bcbb.jpg"}[/IMG2]
Toggle all boxes for all users on the right side.
Otherwise you could just reinstall the game or download a new RF018.rez.
I uploaded the rez file just for you on my private ftp server.
user: ftpuser
pw: crossfire
No seriously. I got this harddrive today and I need to know if it works properly. -
ok i just fixed a similar problem with inability to hear ghost breath and planting sounds, this is how i fixed it
problem: rez file was being "cleansed" as it was being downloaded
solution: disable antivirus, and download and install a fresh copy of the game(see clean install guide for more info), let game patch and then re-enable your antivirus
it worked for me as i now have full ghost breath(which is making me paranoid because I'm not used to it lol) and i can hear plant sounds helped fix my kdr lol -
You don't need to re-install the game.
Solution:
1. Go to C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Cross Fire
2. Delete 2 files SaveIdData.dat and System.dat (and other *.dat files if there are)
3. Log in CF and re-config settings as you wish.
The files above are just CF settings, so deleting them won't hurt your PC.
