My ping increased by 15-20. Good job on the fix, seem's like you guys downgraded instead of upgrading...

We can't take credit for RTO's ping "decrease" in the same way we can't take credit for your ping "increase".

Network latency, heck data on the internet anywhere, goes through some of the most red tape in the world. We have servers in a giant web of network connections and isp's and data centers.

Last nights problems were actually not caused by anything we had. It was an issue with our Data Center. A spot where (alpha specifically) some of our servers are located. Our tech team had to be in communication with our Data Centers and their network people in order to help get the issue solved.

But the solving of the issue wasn't some sort of miracle upgrade or downgrade. 15-20 ping in the grand scheme of things could mean the difference between a thunderstorm happening over a hetwork hub to a re-route of data through Seattle instead of Dakota. The fact that people assume that any one person or any one factor is responsible for a ping fluctuation of something that small is mind boggling.


At the end of the day the issue was resolved and service was restored. If you had a lower ping for a while then awesome! If you had an increased ping, then we're sorry. But the servers, data centers and all the network connections were functioning within proper levels so the issue is not one we can do anything about.

My ping is always the same no matter what =D
