Any free anti-virus programs (that aren't AVAST)?
Basically I just got my new pc up and running and installed the latest version of Avast anti-virus.... giving me a blue screen of death (no idea how) and on top of that ruined some of the important files needed to run windows itself.
I've just reinstalled Windows 7 and just wanted to know if anyone knows of a good anti-virus I could use that is free.
Thanks in advance.

Aren't you helpful...
OT: Try AVG, Norton, or finding out what you did wrong with Avast. -

Use Avira and Spy-bot: Search & Destroy (anti-malware / spyware tool). Both are free.
I got like 3 virus's in a short period of time with Avira. Haven't had any with microsoft security essentials in a longer amount of time. -

Hentai has virus?
MS essential is ok for me, plus the windows firewall, but you should get the LavaSoft's Ad-ware.
Ad-ware is the best virus scanner imo. It detects what others can't find. Scan once a week. -

Not the actual video, usually the websites. -

no, it sucks. 24/7. no matter what. and its impossibru to remove - you have to download a norton tool to remove it all...and its not free...................
OT: AVG is ok, but the main thing is be smart what you click//download...

and you'll also not be able to run lots of programs that require over 50mb of RAM. -

They didn't test Comodo? It was good but too much going on for online gaming. -

A computer can be easily cleaned just by using malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy, CCLeaner, and avast. Malwarebytes and spybot S&D should do the trick actually, don't even need an anti virus unless you can't live without your p0rn. -

Norton is crap, people just don't know how to use the free things in life given to them.

If your pc slows down then you should scan for trojans.
I recommend Ad-ware by Lavasoft, free and detects better than any other free ones. Scan once a week or whenever pc slows down. U really can't go wrong with Ad-ware.
Just use windows built in firewall and, MS security essential for real time scan. You are set. Anymore programs will slow down your ping. -

It is still the best free scanner IMO.
Why?
I used many free scanners.
1. Avast.
2. Avira "Red Umbrella" detected threat Avast was missing.
3. Comodo detected threat Avira was missing.
4. Ad-ware detected trojans Comodo, Security Essential were missing.
