You can win the perm gun in any of the 3 slots... I think thats what you was asking?
This is what I mean:

NOTE: These picture is not belong to me, I take it from this thread http://forum.z8games.com/showthread.php?t=28792GodsGunman wrote: »The top crate is always gp, it might be possible to win a perm gun there, I forget. Aside from permanent guns though, the first crate is always gp.
ok, i get it -
actually looking through the thread for posting your winning is does look like the first slot is always the gun you won -

Apart from crates that has 2 guns in them - for example the tommy/winny crate. The winny goes in the first slot and the tommy in the second. Also the tommy doesnt say 'congratulations' above it lol. -
ahh you ninjad me

yup, every crate spin you will always get gp.
if you win a perm gun it will show in the bottom window.
if you win 2 perm guns in 1 crate it will be in the middle and bottom. -
The BM master is here to enlighten everyone! The phenomenon is due to the sorting process that takes places after you win a permanent gun. The congratulations guns are always in the left stationary slot but can be seen in the middle and bottom spinning slots. Gp is reserved for the top spinning slot and the right most stationary slot. That isn't to say that the permanent gun can't arrive in any of the spinning slots, but all the random items are rearranged when we see them so gp it at top/right and permanent guns are always shown in the left most slot.
Edit: And yes the Thompson and Winchester/ and season crate/ is an exception as they can be shown in the middle or left stationary slots, because they are not congratulations guns. -
False:

And I won my Thompson in the first slot.
I am assuming that screenshot was taken while the Winchester was the "best" weapon (remember?)
--EDIT--
Anyways, posting a bunch of screenshots, some mine, most of them not, and then we can see if it's true or not.

So has there been any winnings located in the 3rd slot?
I'm fairly sure it is GP only in the 3rd slot, no?
--EDIT--
Pulling up some very old, old and new pictures.
As you can see, it seems the majority of weapons are won in the first slot, although it is possible to win it in the second slot.
(Took quite some time to pull all these pictures together.)
The pictures span a large range, from the years 2010-2012, and from many different crates and sources.

Upside-down pic = lulz

Result prove so far => You have 3 winning slot of any random items. However, you only have 2 winning (permanent) slots, and the 1st slot is the most chance for winning. That means when the crates is open, most of your hope is 1st slot, a little hope for 2nd slot and don't expect permanent gun/hats from 3rd slot.
@GoPancakes: thx for your pictures, I think it is enough proof

As i said on page 2 this phenomenon(pancakes likes this word
) occurs because after the 3 items are decided after the spinning stops, we miss a rearranging where the gp is shifted to the top spinning spot, the congrats gun is then in the replacing slot. We know this because gp is ALWAYS in the first\top slot (after rearranging) not relative to the supposed rotation of the items in the circle as they spin. This image is misleading. -

"phenomenon"
It's like we're talking about Area 51.
