Type 89 silenced gun or not, let us settle this once for all.

There has been debate on whether Type 89 is a silenced weapon.

Does Type 89 qualify as a silencer gun to be used in a GM GR team, in substitute of M4A1 and MP5 with silencers.

If it does, then what about Famas.

If not, why not.

I did search before I posted. It was a NO. But yesterday someone said again it is a silenced one.

It's pretty damn quiet compared to other guns.

It's not silenced. It just has a weird highpitched sound like a silenced weapon. It can still be heard from 49 metres away. The silenced M4A1's have a hearing range of 15 metres.

This --->[thread=72823]thread[/thread]<--- has a list of some of CF's weapons and their sound distances. (Max distance weapon can be heard from)

Sadly, the list is incomplete, but still useful.

Edit: It is less noisy then other guns however. The K1A has the same max sound distance but is way noiser then the type89.

Fun fact: According to the info in that thread the mp5 adv can also be heard 49 metres away. It just makes less noise.

If type89 has the quite although audible sound that doesn't interfere with teammates' pinpointing, then it is an affordable alternative to silenced M4A1s.

The Type89 have a variant in CF Japan, it has a scope and an actual silencer. The normal version is certainly bugged because it sounds like if it has a silencer.

Yes, that sound was mainly made for the custom version. But our type89 somehow got the same sound as the Type89 Custom instead of the one we can hear in the video.

So at the original post our type 89 has the sound files of a gun with a silencer, so therefore it counts as being a silenced weapon.

Wow, thanks dude.

So good news for yall who can't afford silenced M4s. Buy type89 instead and explain to GR teammates that it has a custom gun sound. If they get killed by ghosts, don't let them blame on your gun noise.

It is officially solved---type89 is actually a silenced gun.

Even though the gun can be heard from as long a distance as other weps,(ie: the K1A) doesn't mean it isn't less noisy.

K1A- 49metres
Type89- 49metres

BUT, are you going to tell me the Type89 is just as loud as the K1A? No. Not unless you're an idiot.

49 metres is just the max distance the game allows the gun to be heard from. It has little to do with the actual volume of the gun. We're talking about guns that'll annoy your teammates less in GM. Not just how far away they can be heard.
