rez modding and my point of view for it
this is just meant for the mods to share my ideas with z8games and such, any comments can be written but i will not respond in troll comments- also if you delete this i will not repost it, i will just use this draft and send it to z8games
i get what you mean about the rez mods but heres my point. if rez files arent meant for changing then why are the folders open to everyone. and also in the REZ folder, thats where you change your killmarks and ui, which are still located in the REZ folder. so are the rez files. I get changing them is illegal, but games like combat arms dont care about it. anyway my last point is that it doesnt affect any gaming instances. just changes the player's view on the weapon. no one else sees it, it doesnt promote any hacks of any kind, and overall it just makes the game for people like me look better
also- it took me ages getting all those frags from e8 and a7, and took me ages to edit that vid, if you can consult to z8games on this issue, other people will agree, its just modding the user interface of the game for just the person. thats all i have to say -bigd1212

Three words: legality & financial motive.
Another game doesn't do this? Good for them. This is crossfire, and has its own set of rules and regulations laid down by the gaming companies associated with it.
Rez is not open like other file types, say .tga for killmarks. Without going into detail I'll just say that steps have to be taken in order to access those files.
Financial motive: what's the point of selling a reskinned weapon if all those who break the rez to create those same or different weapon skins?
So other people can't see it. Doesn't matter, as the companies involved already have the loss of one customer to not purchase a reskinned weapon. -
The main point: This is Z8Games CF. There's no place in a professional movie editing competition which legitimate prizes to have content that isn't from this game. If these videos are endorsing our version, why are there skins that aren't there from our version?
By the way, you have to do something to get these custom skins to work that would get your account banned. -

Seems that the mods are a bit uneducated on how the hacks in general work, as well as this mod.

the last thread i remember about this had a bunch of nonsense posted by gms/mods that was flat out false

I believe Soi_Lang made a post that pretty much explained everything in another rez file thread. He said something along the lines of these: "You could change the file size to 5 times its intended size, which would make seeing them easy. You could also change your melee weapon to a bright pink so you could see ghosts more clearly."
By messing around with the rez files, people could get easy kills through this. While most people only want to use it to make a repaint of a gun, hackers or people trying to get easy kills could mod these files and ruin the fun for everyone else by making an unfair enviroment. -
