Zalman ZM-1 Mic?

Anybody who plays competitive use this mic? If so, what do you think of it? Is it loud and clear enough? Does it work well with all games and just general use (i.e. skype)? Would this be a better alternative to a headset? I have a decent pair of headphones that I like fine but my mic has a bunch of static which needs to change.

Otherwise I'm just going to get the x11s.
