Connection Keeps Timing Out

Whenever I login I've got about 5 seconds before my game loses connection. I get no errors, but if i try to join a channel or repair a weapon nothing happens or i get stuck at "connecting to channel". Windows 7 64 Bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEGxwlx24OQ

  • Have you checked your internet? If so, what steps have you taken to check it?
  • Its got something to do with the crossfire servers dropping me for no reason.

Are you using wireless? Cause crossfire tends to drop wifi alot.. it happens to me every night.. but if its not that then contact your internet service provider
  • I watched the video.

Considering the guns don't show up you might want to try redownloading a fresh copy and reinstalling. Your anti-virus or firewall could also be blocking the game from retrieving certain information (like the guns in the black market), so try to add the z8games folder to the exception list, and make sure it's allowed in both your firewall and your anti-virus.

Open a command prompt and type in:

    ping 74.200.10.66

Then press enter. What are the results? I suggest doing it twice and posting everything you see there onto here for analysis.

Your connection is really bad, try switching to a wired connection and doing it again.

Even if my connection is bad, i should be able to join.

Would you like my help or not? Just do it.
  • I would if i could, my desktop is in a custom case bolted to my wall, and the router is across the house.
  • K, then try to ping this IP and post your results:

    69.63.181.12

If you don't mind, what is the speed of my connection going to help with this? I've been able to connect and the past and nothing has changed.

Sorry I need you to do it a couple more times just to make sure.

I'm trying to see if your connection is bad everywhere or just when you're connecting to Cross Fire. If it's only bad when you're connecting to Cross Fire then it could have something to do with your ports or something like that and it narrows the problem down, if it's just all-around bad then it's more difficult to pinpoint the problem.

Based on the last ping test you tried it seems your connection is just bad everywhere, but for some reason your ping is generally better when pinging the second IP I gave you (I need another couple series of pings to ensure that). Where do you live?

Did you try redownloading and reinstalling the game yet? Make sure you delete the Z8Games folder before you reinstall, and ensure you're running Cross Fire as an admin. Try running it on service pack 3 for windows XP, that might also help.

edit* Why do you not have an honourable soldier ribbon?

Long story short, I saw hacks and thought they were cool, so I tried them. Got banned and haven't used them since. That was before the ribbons were given i think.

Just tell me what i need to ping and ill send you the results. Sometimes my internet spikes, apparently at the worst times..

^Did you try all of that yet?

I also need to know where you live.

If you have done all of the above, attempt the following so I can analyze your connection (enter each line individually, ensure to press enter after each command, and make sure to wait until the command is finished before starting a new one):

    tracert 74.200.10.66

    ping -n 10 74.200.10.66

    ping -n 10 216.178.47.11

    ping -n 10 74.125.226.71
  • I don't feel comfortable giving the info on the forum so ill pm you. I live in Texas, and I'm re installing again for purpose.

Yeah, the tracert is better to be kept private, the pings don't matter though.

Before you re-install make sure that you delete the z8games folder.

Your pings all seem to be stable now for some reason, but the tracert timed out once, not sure why that is, I don't think that's the problem though.

Your connection to G4Box/Z8Games seems fine now, so idk, sorry :/

If it still doesn't work after you delete the z8games folder, reinstall, run as service pack 3 for windows xp and as administrator, then I can't help you other than giving you this thread and saying to allow crossfire through your firewall and antivirus (perhaps try playing with your antivirus turned off):
