Your vs You're
Yes, I am aware of the technical distinction between ‘less’ and ‘fewer’, and between ‘uninterested’ and ‘disinterested’ and ‘your’ and ‘you're’, but none of these are of importance to me. ‘None of these are of importance,’ I wrote there, you’ll notice – the old pedantic me would have insisted on “none of them is of importance”. Well I’m glad to say I’ve outgrown that silly approach to language.
Pedants will also claim, with what I am sure is eye-popping insincerity and shameless disingenuousness, that their fight is only for ‘clarity’. This is all very well, but there is no doubt what ‘your or you're’ means, just as only a dolt can’t tell from the context and from the age and education of the speaker, whether ‘disinterested’ is used in the ‘proper’ sense of non-partisan, or in the ‘improper’ sense of uninterested. No, the claim to be defending language for the sake of clarity almost never, ever holds water. Nor does the idea that following grammatical rules in language demonstrates clarity of thought and intelligence of mind.

In my opinion, there's no difference when in a verbal debate. But, when you are typing, proper grammar and spelling is a must [remember; my opinion]. It may not spell out that you're an English prof, but it sure as heck does say that you know your stuff.
If you receive a resume with grammatical mistakes and a resume with perfect English, which would you choose? -
I admit that if you want to communicate well for the sake of passing an exam or job interview, then it is obvious that wildly original and excessively heterodox language could land you in the soup. I think what offends examiners and employers when confronted with extremely informal, unpunctuated and haywire language is the implication of not caring that underlies it. You slip into a suit for an interview and you dress your language up too. You can wear what you like linguistically or sartorially when you’re at home or with friends, but most people accept the need to smarten up under some circumstances – it’s only consideratIn my opinion, there's no difference when in a verbal debate. That's also true. You don't [most people don't] speak in perfect grammar to friends. Even the smartest people get lazy when comfortable. Grammar and spelling is important when the situation calls for it. Most of the time, it doesn't, so I do condone the grammatical errors and whatnot.
Somebody making grammar mistakes on FaceBook -> condoned.
Somebody making grammar mistakes on an English final -> not condoned.
I guess it all goes back to the fact that sometimes it's needed, other times it's not. -

Correct grammar and punctuation in general are on a downward spiral. The next generation will undoubtedly contain some of the dumbest people in existence.Gonna grind some Skyrim

To be pithy: be urbane. Speak to those in forums informally and colloquially as they themselves would reciprocate. When it comes to writing a thesis, understand the nuances of the english grammar enough to meet the standards of your suiter.
