Got the same problem as Alehandro... worked fine up to April, since then I haven't been able to run the game on my pc anymore, including a freshly installed windows xp. Tried virtually everything. The game just doesn't start and it doesn't even spit out an error message ^^

Text of error: Timed out waiting for initialing xtrap-engine.
Cant start game, problem is today, everything worked yesterday. i tried reinstalling crossfire, deleted xtrap folder, deleted temp folder, deactivated comodo, turned off everything, i dont have internet explorer installed, i have windows 7 x86, and never before had this problem.
I was searching through google, but all the answears didnt helped me. -
Crossfire is extremely buggy to start with and XTrap is just digitally coded horsecrap. Had the same problem with varying error codes (or none at all after hgwc) for over a year now. The IE and Flash thingies don't do sh*t. Turns out, my problem was that I was running Sunbelt Personal Firewall, which CF seemingly doesn't like, cause I tried disabling it for dozens of times and it didn't accomplish anything. But after I de-installed it, CF suddenly started up again. For now I am stuck with the crappy Windows Firewall -.-
Try using other security software, such as firewall or virus scanner and try again. "Clean" uninstalls of the game don't serve for anything either, if CF doesn't like your setup for some obscure reason it will NEVER tell you, than it just won't work. -
Try cleaning your temp folder, delete xtrap folder and run the patcher as administrator
well if you delet x trap the game wont work. What if he hacks? See? there is a probrem. I think he should just wait a while. Maby his computer is using too much ram? -

I know the problem. There 3 way you can try. Downgrade the window to 32bit, or upgrade to Ultimate 64 bit (must be Ultimate), or replace another Video card. I know the Video card is good but somehow in CF, it won't work with that video card running in that window. Good luck.

Seems like u got what i had before. If you haven't get it fixed, here is my 2 cents, try it:
1/ when problem happened, open task manager (Ctr-alt-del --> task manager)
2/ go to the "Processes" tab, look for Crossfire.exe
3/ select it, then click "End Process"
/4 Open up the game again, this time it should load properly.
