From realistic FPS to aliens?

So when did CF go from a realistic FPS with no lasers or bazookas (I'm pretty sure one of the GM's specifically said "no sci-fi stufz") to one where mutants ran around, the dead rise, and aliens invade? huh?

  • CF was never meant to be realistic FPS.

And we got mutant mode long long time ago if you didn't noticed.
  • sci fi guns if you did read properly
(lasers, tactical nuke shooting from a gun and etc)
that they did meant to say as sci-fi

    for zombies (that isnt sci-fi)
    for mutants (not sci-fi)
for aliens (if you watch closely new papers you will see that we get "invaded by aliens " lmao

It only takes common sense to probably realize he hasnt played cf in a while? And i agree with him, Mutant mode Hero mode and Orbital is scy-fi and I do remember 1 of the mods saying there will be no scy-fi on cf.

    What you said.
  • The game is not focused around mutants and aliens. It is focused around two factions fighting against each other, both of who'm have different ideas about how the world should work.

These modes allow some change now and then for players to do, it is a game and it is meant for entertainment. Mutants and Aliens are long time concepts to human kind, both of which are very plausible to be realistic. Mutants are not science-fiction as there are such things as mutants from animals and humans both that have had mixed genetics and have been something "rare". As for aliens, ask some random southern old-time farmer and he'll tell you his opinion about aliens.

The games focus is still a "realistic" sense of a game. We are considered a military shooter because our primary game is in fact "realistic". For a game to be considered a "Sci-fi" shooter, it's main focus has to be science fiction. Those kind of games will have their main guns be plasma rifles and laser guns instead of M4's and Ak's. Types of sci-fi games would be the well known games, Tribes Ascend, Global Agenda, and Wolf Team. All three of those games staple focus are science fiction related. (Wolf-Team not for the guns, however their primary concept is the fact that you have an ability to transform into multiple different wolves with unique abilities).

While we aren't going to be a full fledged realistic game like Arma 2, America's Army, or Red Orchestra, our primary focus is still to be a "realistic" military shooter. Our game modes that involve Mutants, Zombies, and Aliens, are mostly just for people to chill and relax in if they want a bit of a change.

Since when is space, low gravity, and a space station science-fiction?
  • If u don't like it,just don't play mm/hm/orbital station/upcoming mode.i don't see a problem there.

Because laser guns, something that already exist, are more sci-fi than a giant mutant killing spree.

    Yea.

Crossfire China gets their patches from Smilegate, developers of the game. We got China Town TD before they did. They just accept anything Smilegate offers, we tend to pick what to put in order to not put any OP weapons. For example, the Barret M821 is requested by some people, but a lot of people do not want it because it's over powered.

so you both just say that you are right and mods are wrong?
    smelling warnings :)
  • It's not like anybody is forcing anyone to play them
I think they are fun to break time when you're bored of playing regular modes
That's what is meant by a game in the first place
    FUN

What's your point? You don't see people running around shooting laser guns either. You're just twisting words around to make it seem that you're right.

    Laser guns exist.
    Mutants exist.

You don't see people shooting laser guns at other people for the heck of it.
You don't see people running around shooting mini-guns are mutants.

    End of story.

You yourself are a mutant to the generic human. Every human is a mutant.

oh dear god.Did you watch resident evil?(zombies and half mutants)
    cmn think for a second
even call of duty have zombie mode with mutants

Of course we have similar content, we're the SAME GAME, that is why they are both called "CrossFire". We're just different versions. However, we don't get every content that they get, and they don't get the same content that we get. And there have been numerous times that we have gotten new content before them.
    ixneD wrote: »

    Yea.

You know very well that the laser "guns" that have been created are different than the laser guns based off in games. Yes, powerful lasers do exist, and they can cause great destruction. They are not however a gun that everyone runs around with shooting during war. We don't see plasma disks flying around in iraq, we don't even see slicks carrying lasers.

I never said a giant mutant killing spree is realistic, I said that there are "mutants" in this world.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Every human is a mutation. Now, prove to me that running around with lasers shooting people is realistic.

Because hi-tech laser guns are obviously they only ones to ever be possible to be put in an FPS game.

    Lasers = real

    CF mutants = not real

Lasers = less sci-fi than CF mutants.
  • [MOD]Hi wrote: »

More realistic than CF mutants running around instantly infecting and mutating people.

The human mutation is different from cf mutation and has nothing to do with it.
Every speciment has mutations as long as they keep reproducing , adapting to the enviroment, etc.
Laser gun are more realistic then mutants , not even mentioning hero mode and the new exterpation mode or wt,f that pub thing is.
    Point being:
Laser guns are more realistic then cf mutants

I know you're an intelligent fellow. And undoubtedly you've taken at least a grade 12 biology class. You very well know that genetic mutations can do just about anything.

What I'm trying to say is that CF Mutants are Smilegate's perspective of a worst-case scenario genetic mutation based off of a virus.

Now this worst-case scenario may never happen, but it's not implausible to have a mutation which stimulates major growth in the muscles and destroys and alters skin pigments to make them green.

This game isn't a manifestation of what is realistic or not in the world. If that were, we'd be having much more troubles than simply CF Mutants.
  • What's the point of this discussion anyways?
  • ixneD wrote: »

If you want to compare those two, compare mutants and lasers, or a game's mutants and a game's lasers.

Of course a game's version of something is less realistic. Lasers in sci-fi games are less realistic than real life lasers as well.
  • It's just a game for crying out loud, get over it already and maybe go outside...

    cf mutants don't exist
    stop dodging

I can make an assumption god doesn't exist aswell couse the universe can be explained using the laws pf physics
