I'd be a mean boss
An e-mail assignment I have to do for a communications class, here's the situation:
"It has come to your attention that some employees have been spending too much time on personal phone calls and using the internet for personal activities during their work day. You need to send an e-mail to the department supervisor to keep a closer watch on his staff and to set some guidelines for consequences for this behavior. "
Here's my e-mail (I'm the manager, the person I'm emailing is the supervisor, and we go by first names):
"David:
I'm writing to you about the productivity of your employees. I've noticed that they have been spending excess time during their working days using the phone for personal calls, as well as using the internet for personal activities.
I would like you to remind your employees to stay on task during working hours, and if you aren't sure how to enforce this particular rule, might I suggest reminding them that we have many people willing to take their place temporarily should they need a few days off to regain their focus while on the work site. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me here at fakeEmail@hotmail.com. Please have your employees reminded of their expectations by January 31st."
