But the op's budget is $60, not $170. -
it's hard to get good quality headphones for under $100
Thats a load of crap - I have a £40 pair of headphones and I ace most gm matches I play as gr and sound better than more expensive ones I have previously had. Most of the time the brand is what you are paying for not the quality. -

uhuh sure
i bet good brands to you are razer steelseries and logitech
go to a head-fi forum and become educated
then again i would expect nothing more from you -
I have a $25 headset and I'm generally seen as pretty good on GR (dag even said so and we dislike eachother).

If you need an amazing headset to do good, you're not as good as you think
edit* oh and btw, I disprove of people modding their sound card settings to hear ghosts better, gives the person an extra edge and then it becomes less about skill and more about sound settings. -

yeah yeah trying to get at me. The fact is I have a £40 pair of headphones and they are better than any others I have tried so your comment on 'you cant get a good headset for under $100' is just complete and utter rubbish. Thats all I'm saying to you as I cba with idiotic people like yourself tonight. -

This is the recent pair I bought after my other Sony's ate the dirt. I found these ones to be pretty reliable for Ghost mode. Good quality imo, not probably super top notch, but i think it it gets the job done. -

These are what I used to use before I broke them by accident.
They were very good, better then the $100 pair I'm using now.
Edit: Me and talon posted the same headphones XD.
Also mine priced at $20 well talons are $39 XD. -

you can not get good headphones for under $100 unless you buy used
it is complete garbage build quality and components
what headphones do you use? and which good headphones have you "tried"
and don't even list razer/steelseries/logitech/microsoft as "good"
they work marginally for gaming but that is it.
there is quite a difference between gaming headphones and entry level audiophile, to say other wise just proves your ignorance.
also headphones don't matter if you are using a bad soundcard, or playing on windows 7. you can talk it up all you want, but there is quite a lot going on with the crossfire engine that i doubt you understand. i'm going to leave it at that as it is a closely guarded secret -
The Source was always overpriced, sadly my town is limited to such selections. Lucky picked these up during boxing day;
23$ for the pair and 3 free replacements is anything happened to them.
So hopefully I won't lose out on a pair like these again. -

Thinking of getting a pair of those again. They were really good for their price.
Better then the ones I got now.

i would really avoid those -

They were a gift and indeed do suck.
Right headphone is weaker then the left, messing with pinpointing.
The USB adapter makes everything sound worse.
The microphone is horrid.
And the quality isn't that good. -

i won the updated version of them (780) and they still got issues, but the fixed a majority of the problems that the 777s had.
i was hoping to get the usb ****le so i could try dolby headphone on my nice headphones, but sadly when they updated them, they did away with the ****le and now it is a pure usb cable. its frustrating that they don't have any of the dolby software so i can't adjust the virtual speaker location, like i could on a dolby headphone enabled sound card. -
Since Crossfire supports Stereo sound (2.1). You don't really need a 60$ headphone.
I'd just recommend something cheap like Skullcandy Hesh or if u want something with a microphone, maybe some Microsoft live-chat USB headsets.---These are good cuz they come with virtual surround sound which I found is very useful for Pinpointing ghosts. -
I just bought the Turtle Beach: Ear Force X12 Gaming Headset + Amp Stereo Sound.
I payed 59.99 at Best Buy, may be able to get them cheaper at Turtle Beach's website.
They work VERY well, very comfortable, great cord length, fits snug on your head, your able to control the sound / bass / and chat volume with them.
So I STRONGLY suggest these. -
You don't even need headphones. Rarely, is there a ghost that can bhop decently. Otherwise, you won't even need headphones.
Headphones allow you to Pinpoint, they also help you track a bhopping ghost sometimes. Your success in GM, playing as a GR, will dramatically improve if you use headphones.
You won't have to wait for someone to mess up, stand in light, or miss you to be able to kill them.
Using a headset will improve your clutching ability, without it, good luck taking out a group of ghosts, before the C4 goes kaboom.
