G110 shortcuts

I use a g110 logitech keyboard and i have play/stop buttons on the top.

I use them to stop the music while I play, when I am waiting in the lobby I listen to music but when the game starts I stop it so I can concentrate to the game.

They keys always work in every game but when I play crossfire the shortcuts don't work. When I press play nothing happens.

  • Is there actually a question in there?

But anyway, crossfire must not support those options for some reason.
  • the question is, how can i fix this? I thought it was obvious.

Anyway it worked on my old computer. On my old computer I was able to turn music on or off in game.
  • Play music on a different device ie: a ghetto blaster. problem solved.
  • I also had some problems with my keyboard pause/play buttons, untill i re-installed the drivers for the keyboard :P

I didn't bought 5.1 Headphones to not use them. And the problem is not solved, you just avoid it.

It's not a problem with the keyboard, it's a problem with crossfire. The keys work in other games.
  • Chances are its probably using a macro system that CF restricts for many reasons. Many people with special keyboards/mice have these issues.

Check your keyboard settings for such hotkeys to see if they are bound properly to the actual system keys for such. It might work better.

I've never had issues with my keyboards having such buttons. So there's probably something else in the works for yous.
  • The macros work. I tried some of the "G" buttons and they all work. The play/next song and mute buttons don't work. Even the sound controller attached to my headphones don't work.

Anyway, I'll try finding the answer myself.

Then CF has restricted those keys on your keyboard from being bound. Probably for a reason, as not all buttons work while CF runs.

If you can set up a dual bind or shortcut system I suggest doing so. Like doing a combo of Ctrl+G or something to that effect while with your regular buttons.
  • But it was working on my old computer. I bought a new computer but the keyboard is the same and on my old computer I could use the buttons.

On my old computer I was able to pause the music while I was playing crossfire.
  • mine does the same thing, sounds like a similar keyboard.

its not a "problem" as such, it's merely that, like talon hinted at, cf as an application blocks certain functions from working.

Other applications that run in fullscreen also have this issue, where the shortcut buttons no longer perform their desired function, but are fine outside of it.

quick tip i do, before i join a game, click outside of the cf box (if you play in windowed mode?) then pause it, then join the game.

also works if you alt+tab, but this can cause you to dc from the game...

    EDIT:
    just saw this post:

regards both computers, has anything major changed, i.e. the OS you are using vs the one that was on your old computer?

Well, better hardware and Windows 7. my old computer had XP, my new one has Win7.

Vista was the only one without this issues, all the buttons worked.

I noticed something, the volume control doesn't work too.

take it you dnt play in windowed mode then? since u cnt report players whilst in a game..?

and it worked of for me with xp, but now ive upgraded to win7, it doesnt work in game...and no, thats the same, its an outside application - i.e. not run by cf, so it will be isolated whilst in game...
  • Well I guess the keys don't work because I run the games as a admin. Today I started Rainbow Six Vegas 2 as admin and the keys didn't work too, they usually do when I run Vegas2.
