I think if you get one of your friends to invite you it will let you join on them, escaping the freeze.

Now you just have to be on voice communications or have a friend near you to do it and it's not a problem. :rolleyes:

What BlackSonar said is correct to escape the error you need to let someone invite you.
Sometimes you can still type so press F3 or F4 and tell them to invite you.

If you got no friends. ctrl+alt+del and end process and start cf again.
