Over censored.

When I'm typing in game I get censors on alot of my sentences.. I think z8 over did it.
Example: But its awesome!!!

Well, I'm sure the Dev control that and not Z8Games. Well, of course, they can ask them to add/remove words to the filters. AFK has FK in it, which is an abbr of... well, you know. It might be overexagerated at some point, like awesome, but it might just be a mistake from the Dev.

Anyway, the only word I would like to see censored is: noob. Peoples overuse this word and has no meaning now. "Gun" noob, jump noob, crouch noob, snipe noob, camper noob, sprayer noob, slashing noob, noob american...

I too find it annoying that normal words get corrupted by the swear filter. They are even censoring the word "ping" now. You have any idea how many words we use on a daily basic that end with "ping"? Hopping, helping, jumping, stopping, and PPing are just a few you'll be using a lot in Ghost Mode alone.

+1 it wasnt this bad before, and i still found it annoying before. if ppl want to get around the censors they will by using periods or numbers or w/e, just let it be. every1 on cf hates eachother anyway.

Awesome is part of a cheating site URL which was spammed all over.
Instead of adding the whole url they added just a word of it, for whichever reason.

Censoring an already self-censored word like "fk" is very much debatable and I personally don't like it, but its how someone decided it should be and theres a lot of <12 year old players here.

afk isn't censored, FK is.

You can't censor two letters, since the combination is bound to be used plenty of times in normal sentences.
Someone didn't realize that.

LoL its obvious why some words are censored but its just stupid why you can't use others ..

If it is "Laden" like Google Translate says, then the reason is quite obvious.
Lots of kids think its fun to antagonize with "bin laden was right!" and stuff like that, which doesn't help what certain people at G4/developers feel should be a happy-playtime-puppies-and-cushions chat environment.

(And more obvious, language barriers are going to be a problem. "fk" and "tit" is involved with lots of words, not necessarily bad ones, in my language as it is in English, but they can't take every language in to consideration)

fk was censored because it was associated with a hack site spam message that was going on in game.

There are definitely some....quirks.. to the in game filter that present hurdles for us. On one hand we see something that needs to obviously be censored or stopped within the limits we have available to us, and on the other, it creates problems which may have been overlooked after the fact.

Editing the swear filter through the developers is not the easiest of tasks, you have to remember that there are literally thousands of words on the list. Yes, noob was a bit excessive, yes it was removed after the fact. But there are plenty of other things on that list that are deserving of being on there.

Try to have a little patience with it, and instead of complaining about anyone being too hard, or overly censored, try to understand that we're putting things on that list for the better of the game and that in some cases there may be oversights that need to be corrected. In other cases there may be consequences we can't do anything about.

Guys, please read the full thread.

Words that you type in may not specifically be censored. AFK being the worst culprit is not censored because AFK is censored. It's censored because FK is, because fk was part of a hack site spam.

If you type a combination of letters that doesn't make something censored and it ends up censored there is probably at least a legitimate reason why at one time, those letters belonged to a worse word.

Over censored.
