Can ubuntu run a Windows emulation? if so, you can run Cf thru that.
like Bootcamp on a Mac, for example. (i know nothing of ubuntu other than its an OS)

I have tried to run CF, it starts but then it crashed, probably because of HGWC or Xfire...
Well, in Ubuntu i play Skyrim, Lord of the Rings Online, Lineage2,... you name it..
and i can run all of the Development Environments i need for programming... even the ones that are Microsoft's products....
so yea...bb Windows
Z8 should really start thinking about supporting the effort to run CF on Linux under Wine, cause they will be losing more and more "customers" as the time goes by. -

Cool story bro, but those products are heavily popular under millions and millions of people so some nice people that contribute to the unix community take there time to code options/ways to run those kind of products on unix systems.
Crossfire is a free to play game not a mass-produced product for millions and millions people that pay money for it.
The can play it for FREE.
z8 needs to do nothing since the don't do anything about the developing G4/smilegate are the one's but still the don't need to do anything.
The are just not worth it so get over it for real.
You want crossfire to run on unix systems try asking some experts in the unix communities.
But I doubt the wanna waste there time on cf.
Anyway so stop bashing microsoft products for real get over it.
If unix systems were 95% of the OS market share than you would be bashing them and loving MS
Billions of users than there is always problem.
P.s I wonder sometimes how dumb are people that the can't maintenance a windows pc for real. the most easiest OS on the world since we all know it duhhz! -

Try wine -- very likely it will NOT work on this.
Then your choice is dual boot system or virtualbox. First find a computer with larger memory and stronger cpu, then install virtualbox.
In ubuntu, find the virtualbox in the software repository. There is gui software management tool -
Also just to add an official response here.
The game is only supposed to run on windows. If you manage to emulate it and get it running then great! But if you run into problems with the game, it will be unlikely that we can fully support it.
If you do run in to issues, make sure to tell people that you're running cf on ubuntu with whatever emulation required etc. Support for problems with this will be difficult for sure!

it isn't a bad thing, i know this sounds bad but i quit cf a month ago and alot of my anger problems went away, plus i already saved $300 which i would have spent on the xmas patch
EDIT: i would suggest getting vmware and running cf through that BUT i could get infracted maybe because vmware is now illegal to use in cf to stop people like me from farming (part of the reason i quit, and for the record i used it before it concerned illegal)
I highly suggest you DON'T use vmware cause it can result in banning -
I'm on Ubuntu as we speak and it is better than Windows, especially for development.
It's not about better it's about what is more useful.
For you ubuntu probably since you can do your stuff on dev-ing etc
But for the average consumer the could care less the want something that is known and supported by everybody.
And that is not ubuntu.
You are not everybody your just 1 person that uses something else because you found it more useful and "trusty" right? so get over it -.-
Cough* probably just to dumb to maintenance a windows pc but hehe ubuntu if you like it.
By the way SiahzBack is a "derp" ubuntu is great even thought I don't use it allot since I don't need it I do really still find it a great OS -

What? Do you have a clue what are Windows Emulation programs?
They dont code options/ways just for specific heavily popular games.... but for
any application that needs a windows environment in order to run.
CF also probably runs smoothly in unix systems under Wine, but HGWC or Xfire dont

- Of course it can run smoothly all you need is good hardware but the problem than is the OS does it support it. and unix nope and if your wondering HGWC is the first step problem for CF than comes xfire? xtrap right... but ok xtrap can be easier fooled than HGWC to run it on a unix based system that is with all anti-hacks the are easier to bypass to run on different OS's
