ingame Moderators

lets give a job to those legit players who do nothing but play this game 24/7!

In all seriousness however, while this isn't a new topic per say, I think this is long overdue. Those extremely trustworthy individuals that the community has handpicked as it's guardians of the forums should have powers that extend to the game itself; thus helping and spreading a influx of joy and happiness to the game's players. Indeed, there are always individuals that will doubt the integrity of such individuals, but let us not lose hope. These people were HAND PICKED by the one and only GM Saidin. Without a doubt, there was careful and intricate design in his decision, and we as players much respect such a enlightened person as well as to see the light in his resolution. These moderators take on such a burden that even to disagree with their motives is an insult. We, as the community, must recognize the hardships they face, the long hours of lingering in the forums to see and punish the criminals, as well as constantly read the Terms of Service and memorize the forum rules placed by the once active and remembered Fallen Angel. Do you not understand comrades? These people are divine! They should and need to become in-game moderators! It is the only choice to fully eradicate the species of hackers that Crossfire is full of! End their raid on this free to play game, revitalize the lost competitive arena, and bring back a sense of real community! We need this Crossfire! Saidin, hear me out! While the forums are it's own jungle per say, the virtual reality of Crossfire is a battlefield in itself; imagine a picturesque fishing harbor suddenly being struck by by missiles from a strafing fighter jet. It is horrible. You hear the young girls, and the old men scream in agony as the shrapnel burns into their face and the napalm burns their stomach. Their eyes, once innocent, now seek vengeance, but without an outlet, turn on their own people; ransacking and rioting within their own homes. This cold image must stop. Bring order back to the community. End the hacking spree. Bring IP bans. Bring ingame Moderators. For today, we go to war. War with the Hackers. Let us not endure this pain any longer than necessary. No longer should we wait for xtrap to be our only line of defense, but rather bring an onslaught- no a carnage- of hackers. A punishment on them to the degree of splitting their ankles, and snapping their shins. Punish them moderators! Gain your rightful powers! The fight will be perilous; a fight against an army which can remake accounts within minutes, one which can shoot you from their spawn with perfect accuracy. Precision in their kills through walls of concrete and steel! Comrades, this is no time for you to back down! The fight must be taken to them; or it shall be too late. It shall continue a cycle of lack of trust, constant name calling, fear of recruiting a hacker into your clan. Even if this battle is to be lost, it shall always be remembered! A triumphant mark on the long history of Crossfire and the parasite of hacking which has leached itself onto it. It shall be a swift kick to the lower regions of the male body! A decisive blow to the chest! A headshot from a quick scope! Soldiers! Do not be apathetic to my calls. This is the final calling of every one in this community. Do not be a heathen or a traitor to this cause! No one benefits from the leach but the leach itself! Be the noble, be the thane, be the man willing to sacrifice for their virtual community!

  • Hear, hear!

Make me an ingame GM and I will singlehandedly double the daily hacker bans. I'll do it for free and will only ban the "for sure" hackers. Use my hack report history as my resume.

    edit: lol'd at talonblazes .gif
  • Wall of text unreadable:confused:

    Well not unreadable just boring....

Dito .. dis guy is serious aha :P and yes i agree.
  • From the GM and MOD list on the CF announcement board:

    In-Game MODs

As the game gets bigger and bigger MODs become more valuable in-game. As a surveillance tool we help GMs off hours by reporting cheaters, bad-behavior etc.

    In-game MODs duty:
    - Help with in-game questions and inquires directly.
    - Monitor servers for hackers/glitches and general rule breaking that include shout violations and name violations etc.
    - Report any suspicious activity at anytime.

But I did enjoy your dramatic scenario Jafrikan. Subbing to this suggestion
  • I agree with this. Take the people who have, without MOD on the forums, taken it upon themselves to help improve the forum going community as much as they can and allow them to do the same in-game.

And give them weekly check-ups to make sure they're not abusing what power they get. Give it to me, I'll be in Bravo and Delta all day weeding out the hackers.

I looked exactly like that after reading, just that i shed a tear...

maybe use a better structure for long text. people are afraid of huge walls of text but are not afraid of
scrolling a bit. other than that, well put!

you need a few mature and experienced players, who will just take action when they are a 100% certain. (e.g base-to-base Kills ) also you will have to make them "silent-ingame-mods", meaning that their actions are not displayed onscreen (" PLAYER kicked TastyLimes") otherwise countless players will whisper-flood your behind.

This is clearly what people should do, even knowing the most doesn't... But most of them don't have a f#cking idea of Saidin's job here... If something goes wrong it's his fault and it's not fair that things work like this... Still, true what you're saying here.

100% agreed. Awesome opinion that can actualy make many people reflect about their own acts, even in the forums, I'm not talking about in-game trash community that we see nowadays...

IP bans and most efficient hacking report analysys would solve crossfire problems, no doubt of it

It's like ur reading my mind tbh.

If all you just said would actually come true, I'm pretty sure we were gonna win the war, in 2010 (summer) we've been 2 months without a single hacker, since then, things just got out of control... 1 shot killers and wallers just appeared from nothing, and I cant understand how situation got this much out of control. How can some individuals creating hacks can be better than Xtrap and definitly better than GameGuard? I still can't get it.

Moderators should lead the bans, as u can see the trash in forum is basicly all gone when it appears, even knowing in-game situation is pretty bad it isn't impossible to solve it.

Just bring it up, Saidin! : D

Try read just a part of it if u can't read it all. You'll understand it by READING it...

This is exactly what i thought.

Just curious: Are there any arguments against giving the forum MODs (and prolly some other trustworthy players) in game powers ? At least for the forum MODs we're sure they won't abuse it. So why it didn't get implemented yet?

    I'll do ya one better.

On a more serious note, powers will come eventually, it's not like they're completely out of the question. For now, we do all we can with reporting hacks, glitches, bugs, and whatnot.

We know u guys try ur best to provide us a good gaming and a peacefull community Hi, there's just some things, some details that make your job look useless and powerless against hackers... All you can do is the same we can, report hackers, right? And well, that doesn't take us too far... I don't even know if they get banned when I report them, I'm not even sure how long will it take for them to see the replay I sent, or if they will even see it cuz of the ammount of reports they receive a day...

It just sounds like big responsability, lol. And if 7 days later they're on track again, what does it really matter if they create a new account everytime they get banned, and when they get unbanned they just hack with their main again... There must be a way to stop it (IP ban) ...

I'm 100% sure that IP bans are given out anyways. The matter of in game MOD powers will be addressed when the time comes, there are more important things at hand [such as the hacking situation itself] and we've already established that while moderators can have in game powers, it's not a guarantee that all hackers will be stopped. It is the holidays, so let's look at some crucial facts:
    • Holiday hours - the team does not work as much as they should on regular days [duh], and so there isn't as much time for people to do stuff.
    • Christmas / New Year's Break - the kids at home can play all day, meaning more people that use hacks have more time to play
The above two contribute to the current "hacking situation".
  • Why not give power to ban people to the mods. They are trusted already and know what this communuty is about. Since they are chosen to be mods, im pretty sure theyre not idiots who will ban people if they are mad at him.

    Give them some power!

it's not like cross fire is a new game, and constantly being told "it will happen soon" on 90% of topics doesnt suffice. there is no logical reason why ingame mods wouldnt be enacted immediately. if it a question of judgement/trustworthiness/accuracy, that can be solved by 1. Choosing better Mods if needed and 2. set up a test to be given to a moderator containing clips of a mixture of talented players and cheaters, and the mods must spot the cheaters.

I don't see a reason too, anyone would enlighten me?

And well that there are more important things like the hacking situation itself as hi stated. Z8 got nothing to do with the hacking situation, right? And giving some special in game powers to our actual mods (9 if i didn't forget about 1) shouldn't be a big deal.
Of course Hackers won't be gone if MODs get in game power, but it'd be less i guess. We all think u'd do a decent job, as you're already doing a good job on the forums ..
  • I'd be happy if they just deleted the offending account/player. Sure they have other accounts but eventually all they will have is newbie accounts. And the guns and ribbons they gained will be gone. I think rather than the offender constantly making new accounts, they will eventually get bored/frustrated and leave all together. Not all of them but I'd bet most. Giving some hand picked/interviewed people the ability to freeze/delete/suspend or whatever a specific account when it's painfully obvious they are shoothing threw walls would go a long way to make this game more playable and fun imo. the current processes are bogged down and too much for the current mods to handle. Select a few people and try it out, I'll give you my cell number even!!!! I just want the frequency of running into cheaters to be less, there where 5 just in one match all of which where shooting through the walls. This isn't as complicated as it may sound. here's an example;

Dear Talonblaze here is my list of accounts I froze and the replays

Talonblaze reviews and poof those accounts are gone

next batch.....at some point Talonblaze just checks a few just to make sure, approves the batch

x number of batches later Talonblaze checks one or 2 and approves the rest

eventually a relationship and trust is built and the whole process is faster.

this would only apply to the most obvious cheaters, the wallers, one shot mutant killers etc whatever list that is come up with.

the point is they will never be all gone, but lets make them be more clever and work harder to not get caught.

Unless we're assuming that these would be separate in-office moderators that are not affiliated with the moderators on these forums. Don't listen to Hi, he will never have in-game powers. No moderator on this forum will ever have any in-game powers. Z8 doesn't even know who they are. This is all very impractical like Giggletron stated.

Guys listen to TastyLimes, he's read books to make him rich in the future.

Limes, do you even know what goes on in the background? Where is your solidified proof that we, as moderators, will never have any powers in game? Where is your solidified proof that Z8Games doesn't even know who we are [which is where I chucked, because Z8Games is not a living entity as a corporation, which is something you should have learned in your grade 11 accounting class that you're taking, but instead a website]. G4Box well knows who their moderators are.

Before you spit out unproven facts, remember, you don't know everything. The only thing that you know is what goes on in the forums, and most of the time, in my opinion, it's not the be all, end all truth. You assume that whatever gets spat out on the forums is valid truth, but most of the time the truth is held back.

I'm going to close this thread, as it's been answered already. MOD powers will come in the future, but there are no guarantees as to what [which powers], when [what day], where [server mods / global mods], why [hack prevention / glitch reporting / kicking abusers], who [some mods may simply be forum mods, others could be forum + in game], how [could just be something added suddenly, with no patch needed].

Although it is impractical to pool all of the resources into it, it isn't something that is being disregarded. It's on the list, but it's not top priority. The top priority right now, is the holidays which consist of friends, and family. Let the GMs have their holidays, and work will be done when they come back.

Until then, what's the use of complaining? Moderators report right now anyways.
