Copyright Issues (GM and MOD assisnace appreciated)
Sorry to bring this up just now, but I have been making Youtube videos with Crossfire as the subject. What can I put in the description to avoid copyright issues/strikes? I don't want anybody posting Crossfire videos to get into legal trouble, considering I myself am one of those people.
I know there has already been a thread posted about this, but it's way down the page list and half the answers are you don't need them. I will ask you this once, please do not post that I don't need them. I would also really appreciate a GM or a MOD to please answer this question. Please don't give me an infraction for this "necro" thread because I looked at the old one and I cannot make any sense of it. Half of the replies were you don't need to put anything, and I couldn't understand what the other half said.
Me and the new people in the community would greatly appreciate if this topic was made into a sticky somewhere, maybe even in the announcements if it could be possibly help us/ Z8/G4 (not sure) not get into any copyright issues. Once again, I ask all people who say you don't need to to please not post.
EDIT: As an example, my Youtube channel is: http://www.youtube.com/user/thisgameownscf?feature=mhee

Well are you making money off it? If not, you don't need to cite anything. In this case, the company seems to encourage fan works.
If you are worried, you can note that you are using Crossfire as the materials and their respective owners for legal purposes, so that others don't think you own such material. Just to save your ass from people haggling you for it more than the company trying to come after you.
However this only applies to that youtube partnership deal for using YT's services than it is to be using CF's resources. Selling material of Crossfire is subject to copyright law since they own such things. -
Monetizing from YT shouldn't cause any issues, as I noted that its for using YT's services than selling CF materials. However I will get that clarified just in case.
Everything else involving money exchange will have to acquire permission from the company as it would violate their copy right. -
Monetizing on YouTube isn't selling any piece of the game. Monetizing on YouTube enables YouTube to implement advertisements on your video, and for every view, they must view that advertisement, which you will get a cut out of the money. The actual movie does not matter.
Now, if you were to take that CF Movie and use it in something such as a business financial angle, such as a sales token, or if you sold the movie for money, that would make you liable. That's making money off of what isn't yours. -
Thanks, both of you. You guys clear it up for me, and btw, I don't even plan to monetize on Youtube. I'm not going through all that. Also, btw, what happened to the Mod's Mumble?
It's blank a lot, meaning there's no one on it. Or did it just change addresses? -

EDIT: Thank you so much for you fast response. I really appreciate it.
What he means is, if youre making videos using someones game/vehicle/clothing line, they are entitled to part of the profit, meaning you have to get their permission, however, if youre just making videos, then it's considered free advertisement.
