Run Crossfire Through Steam

Hello, I'm trying to run Crossfire through "Steam", it a gaming engine or whatever but I have my friends on it messenger, it allows you to add games that not on the engine onto it and let you chat with your friends when it run through Steam, whenever I do it, the GG thinks I'm attaching a hack or a virus onto the game, is there anyway to bypass it?
