Power supply

Hey guys, I have a GB GTX550Ti and the minimum power requirement was 450w. Which was why I bought it, because I only have a 450w. (Couldn't get GTX560

) Does having the minimum recommendation of power mean that I get less juice off my GFX card?

The simple answer is yes.

The indepth answer is uncertain.

It depends on the power supply, and the other system components power draw. For the most part running something at minimum won't make it run particularly terrible. You do potentially underpower the card however which stunts it's performance immensely.

You don't need a 450watt PSU for that card unless you have multiple hard drives, multiple optical drives, and a lot of other components. They overrate what you actually need to leave leeway. Your PSU will be fine granted it's a decent brand, some PSU manufactures over rate their products a lot.

That isn't necessarily true. He could have found that for some other version of the card, not all cards use the reference settings. You are right however about the name brand PSU.
