XBOX or PS3?

I have both, But I'll keep shunning them for PC.

i would say ps3 because of the Blu ray player and you don´t have to pay every month to play online. one thing i hate about the ps3 tough, is that it is lacking an application which lets you playback mp3files in game. a few games will let you do that, but most just won´t.

consoles can not be compared to desktop pcs in my opinion. of course quality is better on the pc, but the ps3 comes in handy quite often after getting shot at base through 25 walls.

In total with my cousins we have probably had 8 xboxes, only one has broken and that was because my little brother dropped it, we fixed it pretty much a week after.

As for the xbox controller, I prefer it over playstation controller, I just find it easier to hold / use.

Game wise
If you're looking for more M (17+) rated games, than go for the 360, but keep in mind, that PS3 does have a great collection of M rated games itself, but the system itself is pointed more at E10+ to M.

Graphics
I gotta give this one to the PS3. To anyone who plays CoD, and owns, or plays consistently on both systems, you'll know, that CoD SHOULD NOT HAVE OUTLINES LIKE A FREAKIN CARTOON! That's right, you'd think, with a great system like the 360, HD graphics would be better, but no. Once you turn this "almighty" console into HD epicness, it fails constantly, especially in FPS games like CoD or Battlefield, with having so much sharpness on the picture, that it looks like a cartoon.

Smooth Gameplay
I'd have to say this one is tied, but I'd also like to say, it leans towards the PS3 a bit. I've noticed that PS3 games are almost always at least 40 Frames/second, usually upwards of 60, without any real lag spikes happening that often.
Unlike its counterpart, the 360 loves to have games running at a crappy 30 FPS or below, except for the cases such as CoD or Battlefield, but keep in mind, the FPS contantly drops quite a bit, especially with online gameplay.

Features
Lots of great things on both sides, making this part a hard to choose winner.
PS3 certainly has its ups, like, i don't know, FREE ONLINE GAMEPLAY. That alone should be one of the biggest reasons alone to get a PS3, rather than spending an extra $70 DOLLARS A YEAR, just to play on something YOU'RE ALREADY PAYING A BILL FOR. But, I do have to admit, the Xbox comes back with some pretty awesome features, like signing into different profiles on each controller. It's annoying when you're playing Black Ops online, unlock a bunch of epic stuff on your friends PS3, when they've barely done anything, just to come back and realize all your stuff is gone again, reset to the crap the first player's profile has.
These are just a few features to mention, because if you really want me to start goin on with everything here, i WILL start another console war, in WW3 form.

Over All epicness?
Again, I'd have to go with the PS3. Built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectors, instead of having to buy external connectors, BlueRay, and 1080p or 1080i (whichever you prefer) High Definition gameplay is the best.

One more thing to point out with the PS3:
NO RED RING OF DEATH!
I'm, sure any long-time Xbox user has had this happen to them. Playing their favourite game, when all of a sudden, a wild red ring appears on your Xbox! Oh no! It's not working! All of your rage suddenly concentrates into one massive ball of FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU-
until you cannot scream louder.

I'm sure there's more I'm missing, but this is just scratching the surface, letting you know what to get.

Get a PS3.
