As someone else stated before, Wine will be able to run CF, but not the anti-cheat.
No anti-cheat = No CF. -

Ubuntu is a great OS.
But ya people don't care about it....
Just tell your dad to stop thinking about him self.
And at least dual boot one of the pc's with XP or if it's a good pc windows 7.
So you can at least enjoy playing a couple of games.
If he still doesn't wanna do it.
I suggest you, save up and get a laptop.
Or if your dad is gone for a day and your home alone.
You go to the shop and get a DVD(For 7) or CD for XP
And download Windows. and install it on of the machines
There are allot of tutorials on how to do it.
And if your dad finds out tell him it's his fault for being a .....As someone else stated before, Wine will be able to run CF, but not the anti-cheat.
No anti-cheat = No CF.
Actually it's the HWGC that doesn't wanna load in Ubuntu

Ubuntu=joke go back to Windows and give your dad a stern cussing out.
Be quiet you don't know nothing. You're just another victim of Microsoft.
Please go on a random website and let your Windows Defender try to protect your machine. -

lol? Sorry didn't know you knew me that well. Shame to say you use Microsoft yourself because Windows is the only OS compatible with Crossfire now is it?
FYI: I major in Information Technology express your ignorance more pl0x. -

With your nope you are saying you can run Crossfire on your Unix based system than?
Please than show us....
But I'm pretty sure your just BSing
Because there is no way to run Crossfire on any unix based system.
Even if your a "pro" coder you will have no chance at all in running CF.
Because you will need to know how HGWC + Xtrap interacts with the system and if you know that you must be some employ from g4box that has acces to it's development etc.
P.s
Ubuntu has programs that can run Windows apps but duhhhhhhhhhhhh
That is a programma that virtualize a Windows environment.
But CF has HGWC + Xtrap and the detect that it's a virtualized environment and the will deny to run on that.
It used to work on Vmware, if you altered a little bite of the config.
vmware probably still can work....
But ya Ubuntu doesn't support that so if you use Whine or Crossover the don't got that kind of options to alter it like vmware.
So now what? your try to run it on Ubuntu it self? than like I said above you must be a employ of g4box to get that kind of information

Exactly, He so busy trying to argue with me, that he doesn't even realize he's contradicting himself. Even though you beat my to this, I would like to reiterate that this guys BSing. -
I completely abandoned Windows even though I still have them installed so that i can dual boot.
The only reason for me to log into Windows were to play Crossfire.
Eventually I quitted CF, because i cant bother to log into Windows just to play CF anymore.
I can play other games in Ubuntu like Lotro, Lineage2...
Linux Ubuntu with GNOME-Shell (not with Unity) is better looking, safer and more user-friendly than Windows anyday.
