Startup failure
Hello, I have installed crossfire on my windows 7 laptop, and it has run perfectly in the past. When I went to play it last, it had to update the game. The patcher kept crashing, so I uninstalled the game and re-installed it. Now whenever I double click on crossfire the pre-game window pops up that shows upcoming patches events, and when I click start game, the patcher runs then closes without any error messages, and hgw game watcher does not pop up like it does on my other computer. I wait for an hour and the game still does not work. I have tried re-installing the game, downloading a whole new installer and re-starting my computer, but it never works. Once again it has worked in previous patches but just wont work. Could you please help me? Thank you!

2) disable antivirus realtime shields
3) if you have xfire errors post them on the forums. -
i have this problem for 4 months,but i know what can u do to play(not to repair). co to cross fire(in start ) ,than right click,than propeties. click on find target and choose patcher_cf.exe. right click on patcher_cf.exe than run as,than choos administrator ,than put your password. if u play on admin u can just click on patcher_cf.exe . i hope it will works. good luck!

Yeah whenever I try to start crossfire it loads the g4box and i hit start, after that i see the patcher for a second or 2 then nothing happens. Xtrap doesnt start and the patcher closes itself out. I dont get any error messages that im aware of. I keep micrososft security essentials on but all the needed exceptions are made as far as i can tell. I dont know if this matters at all but in my xtrap folder there isnt an actual application and i cant make an exception of any of the items in there.

If you were really interested a bright young fellow just told you what to do. Go to c/programfiles/z8games/crossfire and click on the thing that says patcher, right click create shortcut and send the shortcut to your desktop. Now run it. If it cancels out press ctrl+alt+delete and click processes. It will say crossfire.exe, right click and click end process tree (this will end the program and microsoft c++ visual) restart your computer, now click the game launcher and you should be all set. If the problem persists, describe it in more detail.
