Unfortunately, once you're set up in life, it's not that simple: transferring bills, work payments, internet and phone line costs, credit cards, contracts, online payment systems, the list goes on.
It's easier said than done in the real world.
Luckily for me I'm with HSBC, one of the higher-end banks out there.
My bills come to my mailbox, not to my bank. Which bank I pay them with doesn't matter to the company I pay to.
You can easily change where your pay comes in, I work at a semi-big company and it would take me ten minutes to change.
Internet and phone are just bills, same as above.
A credit card is in reality just a monthly loan.
If you have it through your bank, its easy to transfer.
If you have it through a different company, it wouldn't be affected by a bank change.
Not sure what "contracts" entails that isn't included above.
Most banks offer online payments.
A member-owned bank might not (actually it would if its decent), but you don't have to be a customer at a "real" bank to pay your bills there. Walk in with the bill and cash.
All of the above would take a week tops, its just paper work.
Probably not worth it for most people, its "I don't like big banks taking my money" vs "damn this is convenient, let 'em overcharge". -

Anarchy.Protesting is dumb.
If they ACTUALLY want change they are going to have to quit wussing around and actually STORM wall street or washington.
Standing around and making noise will do nothing.
Not something the USA needs right now.
I'm wondering how many citizens of the USA in this forum are actually proud and patriotic for the USA? Not to point fingers or anything, but the responses would reflect what the "public" believes in today. -
I now fully believe in the movement. It takes balls to take military grade pepperspray and sit there. If that happened to me, I would make sure that a car bomb would go off, or the local precinct be destroyed.
Once police started doing this:

yes that pepperspray does in fact suck...makes it hard to breathe/see anything...and it does suck that they had to do it, but the police are always precocious and take their steps to disengage "gatherings" like this because it's their job and if they want to keep that job to feed their families they will follow those given orders
i'm not defending them or agree'n with them by any means just stating facts -

All of the factors I'd mentioned come into play for me, since my wage and online earnings are paid straight into my bank account for tax reasons. If I was paid in another form, then I'd find your ideas easier to pursue, but that's just me personally. I can see how these changes would be easier for other people to make, and I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just stating that it's just not that easy for everyone.
I know the Scandinavian countries are quite a hub for good banking, the same unfortunately can't be said for British banks.
But as I said, it doesn't affect me too much, I love my bank, been with them since I was 12 years of age. -

STFU. They are cheating the system. MY dad is one of the few rich people that don't and actually pay their fair share of income tax. Other rich people go out and cheat the system by putting their money into a company and stock. that way, they only have to pay 15% tax as opposed to the 35%.
Please, just stfu. -

What rules were they breaking?
BTW 3.5 days is nothing.
80+ year old women are obviously spoiled, fat, or hippies, right?
If you don't even know what they're protesting, then don't bother posting about it. -

i look around at anyone in my life who has actually worked hard is, i repeat, IS succesful. not my fault that people under 20 have no work ethic and have no idea about what the real world is like. thats why rich people are rich.. they understand this from a young age.
if you are poor, thats your fault... you have all the power in NA to get out of poverty. -
-
This is false, and this is what they are protesting.
how is it false? you have all the power in your hands when you are young.. not my fault people fck up and then expect everything to come easy to them
you have all the chances to get good marks and get scholships to good schools to get good paying jobs..
some people just dont want to work for it. example: the people living in tents in big cities in NA.

A lot of families were given that privilidge that you call "Succ(ker)ess" and fooled into believing a lie. Couple that with a blatant theft of the tax-payers future by the banks ineptitude to see or care about anything humane, as long as they made the profit, and then reply.
