I don't see how this is so difficult.

It took only a few hours to mess this up so bad. Why is it taking all day to revert it back? I got on this morning about 12 hours ago and was getting a "Service not available" login error like so many others. it's 8:19PM here and I'm still getting it. I would think by now, someone would have gone in and changed the area restriction where someone royally screwed it up. Normally I don't rage at game staff members for laziness. Now I'm raging. There is no reason this should take all day.

  • This patch didnt take a few hours to put together. It took weeks. Now the devs have to backtrack to find out the issue as they dont know whats causing it.

Id like to see you go through a months work to find out the issue and fix it.
  • I'm not talking about the entire patch. I'm well aware of what kind of work goes into this sort of update. I'm talking about the area restrictions. There's no reason for THAT. An hour or 2, maybe even 3 would be understandable. But it's been much longer than it should have taken. The crate issue, and the launcher issues I can understand taking remarkably longer to fix however.

Yes they need to go through the patching process over the whole month to find out what they did....
  • It's fairly obvious what they did in regards to the area restrictions. They expanded them / changed them in some way that's blocking people who live even in the north america region. If it were my problem to fix, I would think reverting them back to "The way they were" would be the obvious solution until I could devise a way to accomplish the original goal without having the same problems.

Maybe it's harder than I think it is. Maybe I'm just raging because I'm mad and want to play the game I've invested money in like everyone else has. Main point of this thread is to see some progress being made toward fixing the problem. I've seen none so far.

I know its fairly obvious what is going wrong..

How its going wrong is a different story.. its not like it was intentional.

It is harder than you think it is. They got to decompile and trawl through all the code they did for this patch and find out where they went wrong then compile it all again. Which takes a damn long time.

    Youre not looking hard enough

  • Area restriction fix

For Area/Region Restriction: Use a proxy-redirection program like "ProxyCap". Redirect CF to use a North American Socks 5 Proxy. Tested and works.
  • No posts on that thread about how close they are to fixing any of these issues. What you say makes sense. Again, main point of this thread is to get a voice on this issue. I still don't see it really being discussed anywhere else. I don't know if it's because such a small portion of players are getting it or what, but it really should be addressed, and worked on with as much fever as the crate problem.

I live in the united states. This shouldn't be a problem. Hence the Problem

It has been addressed and is being worked on. Theres no need for constant updates. The thread will be updated when the issue is fixed.

    I'M DOING IT RIGHT NOW

nope. Too hard. One of my eyelids just busted.
  • I read just about every post from that thread, I even followed it personally minute to minute for almost 2 hours. Can you please post a quote from there where this issue has been formally "addressed"?

"For those who are experiencing an IP block error message please be patient. We are working on the problem and should have it fixed as soon as possible."
  • That's great. Since that was posted, what progress has been made?

EDIT: This is an honest question. I would prefer if a GM who has the time to answer it did so. I can wait.

They dont know. The developers are in Korea and will inform the Canadian GM's when theyre done and ready for the game to patch.
  • Just a thought. Is it possible to put the patch in a sandbox for testing before they send it live? Do they do this? I'm really kind of curious how these sort of errors occur, and aren't caught before they are issued. I mean, testing it before making it live probably would have caught the crate error immediately. Thoughts?

Patches cant be tested to scale it will be when its released. These obviously didnt come up in testing otherwise it wouldnt have been released.

Things happen and it sucks. Just wait for it to be fixed.
    There is no ETA.
  • I've played several games that had a dedicated "Test server" Where players could go to intentionally try to break the game, and find all the problems with it. The programmers would take the information from the crash and use it to update the live and test servers. How is this not possible with this game as well? I would suggest implementing the same sort of idea. Patch the test server, let people break the patch, fix it, then send it to the live servers.
