yes its a british thing. It came from an assassinaion attempt on the king of the time (dont ask me who that was) But a guy called guy fawkes tried blowing up parliament using gun poweder but got caught in the end and got killed himself (think he got hung) Thats where fireworks came from too i think.(< nah thats wrong haha) its traditional to set off firework on bonfire night as well as have fires :P Watch a film called 'V for Vendetta' That gives some info on bon fire night and its one of my all time favourite films :P
