Hd radeon 6850, 102 fps?

For sure, im doing something wrong... I leveled down the video settings of game and I have between 60 - 130 FPS maximum... If I set the video setting with all best options, I get 60-80 FPS...

I downloaded the last drivers... but the problem continues... what im doing wrong?

Thx in advance to all responses!

What processor do you have? For a 6850 in Crossfire, I would say that's pretty normal. This game doesn't take advantage of good hardware.
  • do you have Fraps? run a benchmark in an 8v8 snd and if you have less than 100 average fps then i wouldn't worry.
  • hold on, i'm going to benchmark my 9800GT real quick with maxed out settings.
  • 9800GT
    Athlon x2 5000+

AVG FPS (1024x768, all max settings in an 8v8 snd) = 97.092

With the same settings in the same situation, you should have roughly 120-140 fps on average. That doesn't mean it can't occasionally go down to 80 or so, we're talking about average.
  • The graphic card you have isn't great.

    It may have 1GB RAM

But the clock speed is terrible. You should of done more review on buying it.

This will cause a FPS Lag, if you have still have Windows driver as your graphic card change the settings in the BIOS.

The clock speed of the card is more than enough for this game. The 6850 is a good card, although not top tier.

The clock speed may be enough for this game but he wants more FPS.

If he wants more FPS he should of reviewed more products and change his programs/configuration.

I know its not great, but is the best i could afford it... here in Argentina we dont have a lot of options to choose...

BTW, Its kind of weirdo yo have 60/80 FPS on a game that is not using a lo t of graphics and if I play on Bulletstorm for example, i get 300 FPS... :S
  • The 6850 is a good Mid Level card, on par with the GTX 460 1GB.
You should see 60 to 150 in a 8v8, Youre not doing anything wrong.
You get what you pay for. Its a fine card, DX11 support. Dont worry
about the FPS. You could overclock it, The Radeon HD 6850 turns out to be quite the overclocker. 775 MHz core clock to 900 MHz . Now Thats kickin..
  • guys i got 120 fps with a 5450 and pentium d, there is no way he should be getting this fps.
  • I also have problems with FPS.

My Video Card : GTX 460 Super Clocked 1 GB
    Processor : Core 2 Duo E7500 2.9 GHz
    8 GB Ram DDR3 1333 MHz

    And my FPS is 100-160
I will go to move of processor in the future !

    I will go to buy the Core 2 Quad Q9650 - 3.0ghz
  • yeah.....

    i have
    Intel pentium Dual-Core E5700 @ 3.00Ghz
    4Gb DDR3 RAM
    this is the best part
    Geforce 8400GS pcie 64bit

and my lowest fps at 1440x900 everything high is 130fps, at 800x600 (i use this to see better the chat) i get min 120 and max 202 fps

funny thing, some weeks ago i pplayed cf on a AMD Sempron 3000+ 1.5gb RAM ATI Radeon HD2600 AGP and had over 120fps on 800x600 and 60/80 on 1440x900
  • This game is not GPU limited, but CPU limited.

The better single threaded performance your CPU has, the better. Although, keep in mind that the engine is so old, that it cannot take advantage of even some of the recent single threaded application advancements.

Long story short, any card from 5+ years till now that's half decent has 0 effect on your FPS.

every game (90%) is gpu based! u'll have with an intel duo not more fps then with an i7 (5-10 fps is not very big :D) , if u have the same gpu. i've an i3 and amd 6850 and i play with 200 fps. my friend has a amd athlon (1,8 ghz) and a 1gb nvidia gpu (dont konw the name think 450 but dk) and he can play cf with 100-120 fps. if u have a amdx2 or intel duo u'll not realice dramaticlly more fps as when u have an i7 (same gpu). even iobit game booster can make a better performance (more fps) so download it and u'll have maybe 30 fps more (no effects when u have more than 2/4 processor cores coz the bagground programms / processes use not 100% ;D maybe 10%). sry for bad english but i hope that it was useful

Never read so much bull**** at once.

The HD 6850 is one of the best choices you can make nowadays.

    @Topic
You should really check your graphic drivers and then you should check what things are running in the background. Maybe a virus is interfering?

I know that the phenom II x6 are a tetrrible choice for Crossfire. But 100 FPS is pretty low. Maybe it is even worse than I thought and you need to go with Intel to get higher FPS. But I doubt that.

    I am using a HD 5770 and an i5 2400. I get constant 200 FPS.

You seem to like random numbers or? Minecraft is CPU based, Crossfire is CPU based, CS 1.6 when you play at low details, Age of Empires 1, Age of Empires 2, Age of Empires 3, Age of Mythology and many more.

In your case it is the i3 that gives you the 200 FPS not the hd 6850. Did you even notice that the OP got the same GPU as you but a weaker CPU and got half of your FPS?

    He got it.
  • My 5770 and a Phenom II Quad clocked to 3.9ghz provides me with over 200 fps in CF... Interesting.

lol i stopped paying to temp's computer related post after he said the i3-2100 couldn't beat most amd's quad cores.
  • Then play crossfire with 100% cpu summary...do u have 200 fps anymore? metro 2033, battlefield, crysis, fallout are gpu based games, u cant play this games with a 2 ghz processor and a 4gb gpu...u can test it if u want but i think it will fails so hard ;D
EDit: play with full details and say its a 1,8 ghz :D
