+1 just not too much of a significant change in graphics and changing the gun sounds slightly will work too ( i hope )

You can modify the files to give yourself an advantage.
It's not the same as changing the picture at the start of the game.
The .Rez files contain all the character models, weapons models, map layouts and whatnot.

X-trap can detect the modified files apparently.

1. You have a program that works with CF that scans all .REZ files to make sure that they're not edited. Only way to get around that is with a by-pass. Which is against the rules.

2a. They're not your files, they're z8games files.
2b. Modifying them isn't against the rules completely. But modifying critical files such as .REZ is against the rules.

I'd stick to sound, lobby and killmark mods instead of seeing how much I can mod this game without getting banned. At least, until someone else does it first without having to use a by-pass or any sort of rule-breaking programs.

There needs to be a law made to allow computer users to ACTUALLY have the power to do whatever they damn well please with files as long as the modifications to said files were not illegal...

I want to make a modern HUD...with glowy green health gauges and stuff...

I agree that this game should have the ability to be modified to look different but then there'd be no real need for the zp weapons since you can skin your guns to look and possibly have the same stats or better..

The game should have a sectioned bit that you the user can get into to modify the look of the game.

About that law, it will never happen... If you read the terms and agreements, no matter how much you payed for this FREE game, your account is still owned by the hosts. This is so they can access your account details to examine if you're cheating or not and also to be able to ban the cheating accounts from the game.


Summary:
1. They want money so they won't allow you to make the in-game look cooler and better.

2. Read Terms and Agreements, your account is owned by the hosts. They're allowing you to play the game as long as you follow the rules. Even if that means getting banned for trying to make the game look better.
